Rifle Scopes GOOD scope with built-in rangefinder - why not?

Out of sheer curiosity, why haven't any of the good quality scope manufacturers released a scope with a built-in rangefinder?

I mean, I can understand why you'd want one to be separate from your optic, and I also fully understand ranging with reticles, but I can also see why some would want one integrated with an optic.

Or do some high-end manufacturers already do this, and I just haven't seen it?

Look at the Barrett BORS. Cost is a big factor.

I'm not stupid (well, I like to think I'm not, anyway

). I was referring to an electronic device built in to the scope; similar to the functionality of a Leica LRF 1600.

The BORS - yes; that's probably closest to what I was thinking, but also a bit beyond what I had in mind. Just something to tell you X distance to your target, and possibly the angle (and wind?).

for those that i saw using it, i had the impression that they were distracted/sidetracked by too many knobs on the scope.

I believe Burris makes one and Nikon will have one out soon.

I've used the Burris quite a few times. I don't own it but am VERY familiar with it. It's a good idea and it allows you to USB in your dopes which is cool. It seems to work pretty well out to 800yrds. That being said, I would never buy one. It's very heavy and looks stupid as hell. It's also quite a bit more cumbersome than our usual scopes...
