I'm looking to purchase a good spotting scope between $1000-$2500, in either the 45X or 60X (prefer 60X), but I need it with a long eye relief since I use glasses. Vortex has new Viper HD models for 2018, but they are not available yet. I am leaning towards that model, but checking to see what else is out there I may be overlooking. I heard the NF ts-82 is not good if you wear eyeglasses. Thanks

There's lots of great options out there way superior to a Vortex Viper HD in your price range from Kowa, Meopta, Athlon or Zeiss to name a few.
The Athlon Ares @ way under $1,000.00 would be a great choice compared to most $1,000.00 offerings. Have you read this spotting scope review?

Please feel free to give us a call to discuss what would be best for you.

IMO it absolutely is. I'd say it is between the Viper HD and the Razor HD series, did you read the review, https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbth...w#Post12388847 ?

Doug, when is this coming out? Expected street price? https://athlonoptics.com/product/cronus-tactical-7-42x60-ed/

@OP - the above appears to be a near-clone of the Bushnell LMSS with Athlon-type reticle. It doesn't go to 60x, but I would have considered it prior to buying my LMM were it available then.. if it really is an LMSS clone, the eyepiece can bet set for 'with or without glasses' and it has fairly good eye relief.

If you’re not wanting to spend a fortune the Leupold Gold Ring has excellent eye relief. I’m not sure what you’re using the scope for but I’ve used one for several years spotting hits and misses on steel and it works great.
The reason I bought the GR was I didn’t have to have my eye up against the eyepiece. I wear glasses and I can have my eye off the scope an inch and still spot hits and misses.

My shooting partner won an Athlon spotter in one of those buy X amount of spots kinda raffles. It lasted a couple months of range time last fall, and first trip out two weeks ago, it broke.

He was turning the magnification ring when the entire eyepiece started turning. You have to hold on to it to adjust it now. So he will be sending that back to Athlon..

In your price range, look at the Vortex Razor, the Meopta, or the Kowa. I've spent time behind all of those (I own the Razor) and they are excellent spotters.
