I am going on a sheep hunt soon, and plan to get a head mount since I have seen some nice sheep where I am going. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good taxidermist in or around the inland empire. Don't have a ton of money to spend, so i'm just looking for a good value. Thanks for reading, and any replies.

man some pretty rough stuff there, the Darius work is hard to look at. find some one who has the knowledge of anatomy and that it shows in their work. always look at the ears on a mount, if the ear comes out of the neck then move on to the next guy. The ear on a live animal is part of the head and not the neck. look at how many of the photos the ears are growing out of the neck. the eyes need to look alive also, you work hard for your money and trophys and you should get a correct job. Just trying to help you pick the best shop, I have a little experience in the field, here is my web site, maybe it can give you some direction also.

Re: Good taxidermist in southern california?

I have a Badger at Simon's right now. He has had it since Nov-2010. Said it would be done in 10 weeks when I dropped it off. His work does look pretty good though. He has a small showroom at his shop with some pretty nice stuff.

That Darius stuff looks like crap!

Well I was given a chance to take any animal from a local hunting ranch, here is the website: http://www.bighorncanyonranch.com/index.html
It's a nice little ranch, really easy to stalk and hunt exactly what you want. I have been up there three or four times guiding, but never actually taken an animal for myself. I'm not a huge ranch hunting guy, but I'm sure glad this opportunity came up, since last season was a bust for me.

edit: not sure what I will take until I'm up there and have a chance to view the animals, but I'm hoping for a nice barbado.

I took my Dad there last year. He cant get around as well as he used to, so I bought him a "canned hunt". It was pretty fun and you can make it as challenging or as easy as you like. I might go back there with my bow and get a nice 4-horn

Re: Good taxidermist in southern california?

I would love to get a 4-horn, but they rarely have them anymore, and when they do that's what everyone seems to go for. I want to start bow hunting, and plan to go there again when I do.

Thank's for that, from the pictures it looks like they do nice work, going to check out a couple of the places out here and if I don't feel like having them do it, I'll probably take it there.
