I had a good day Sunday. Winds were calm at 12'ish from 4 o'clock, 988 yards. I shot two sets of groups from this distance, holding around 2.2mils of wind, some a touch more, some a touch less, really trying to 'feel' the wind, I did ok, 2 separate groups, one 5, the other 6;
The pic below was towards the end of the day. The top left hit was my sighter shot, I made a new hold and I fired the next 6 in fairly rapid order to try to stay in the same conditions, it seems to have paid off.
The hit to the right was one of Steve's, we were farting around with his LTR to hit out there, he didn't have enough elevation in his scope so he was holding 5 mils up and 2.5mils right to try and hit, he got 2 on the target.
I don't think I need to mess with load development. I 'was' going to try to refine the load some more, but no need. It shot really well the same day at 303, 520, and 602. Couldn't hit the 850 for some silly reason, I guess 'cause I suck.
The place I shoot has some really screwy winds, the terrain is flat, but there is a tree line at the impact area, and the way the levee is seems to funnel winds in a way that is quite deceiving when you look through the scope. Couple multiple zone winds and you have a real pain in the ass wind condition.
