Goodell takes a dive...

Meh,

The NFL is going to be the NFFL - National Flag Football League in another year.

The liberals will have killed the game as a sport Americans are interested in and all this anthem protest shit is just moving it along into the dust bin of history.

Goodell is a bitch w/ no spine. Period. He's going to say whatever he needs to say at the moment to protect the NFL & it's players, not to mention kissing owners and players asses. That SOB has no integrity. I don't even watch NFL football anymore because there are so many shitbags playing the game. If you have multiple felonies, dope convictions, weapons charges, domestic assaults DUIs / DWIs, etc it seems you go higher in the draft. Forget those guys & forget their game too.

Everyone should stand for the national anthem. No exceptions. When I went to hockey games in Canada I stood for their national anthem because it was the right thing to do. There is absolutely no reason not show respect while the anthem is playing. Nowhere else on this planet have more men died for freedom. Which may also be the reason so many take it for granted. I understand this falls under the 1st Amendment, but it's done in poor taste.

There is a time and place for taking a stand. These guys should use their status as professional athletes to reach out to our youth & find a way to do something positive. Whining like a bunch of bitches is certainly not the way to do it.

I was hoping Keapernick would stay in Ghana.

Seems to me the thing to do is what we should do with the KKK, Nazi's, and their ilk. Ignore them. They are an insignificant minority. They wont get any traction and if they do dressing like they do they wont be hard to find.

An alternative would be to start a movement to refuse to attend or watch any game in which a player refuses to stand. Hit them in the pocket book and theyll fold quickly. Imagine if Kappy dint stand up and 40% of the fans boo'd him then got up and left.

Anthems and Flags dont mean a great deal to me. I prefer the intellectual exploration of liberty to revering objects. But I know that they do to many, and many of those gave much for them, so when in public I show respect by standing. Its not a big thing. I dont salute anything. I see saluting as bowing my knee and I dont bow to any physical object. Only something higher.

Weve always got checkers.

Fuck Godell and fuck any of those faggots who take a knee.....bitching about oppression while making 7 figures to play a fucking game.....Tell me more about how the great white man is keeping you down as you drive off in youre Bently.

the national anthem is a time for you to pay respect, not make a "political statement" so you can get your overpaid ass on the news.

Actually it doesn't........These shit bags work for the team owners and if the team owners said If you want to work for me you will stand when the national anthem is played or you can pack your shit and hit the road. The NFL and its teams are a private business and can put its own policy in place the 1st Amendment doesn't apply here. Of course I know the team owners don't have the balls to do that, but they could.

This is correct, except I "think" last year there were several team owners/coaches who DID require that they stand, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure what will happen this year.

last year Jerry Jones said everybody from Romo to the janitors would stand or be fired,,a couple days ago James Harrison OLB for the Steelers said that anybody on the Steelers that didnt stand for the Anthem better have a broken leg and if they didnt they would have,,

Thanks, I thought I remembered that last year. Also, they were saying last year that the entire NBA has a policy that players will stand. Considering the fact that the NFL protestors have made this a "black lives" issue, and the NBA has a much higher percentage of black vs. white players vs the NFL, it's kind of ironic that it's the NBA that makes it a policy to stand and the NFL won't.

Personally, I think Jones is an asshat. However, his laying down the law in regard to respecting vets and the constitution, certainly raises my respect level for him...

While I agree for the most part with your post, I'd like to give a different perspective on one line, "Nowhere else on this planet have more men died for freedom.." Actually, a lot more people have died for freedom in this world than Americans. The difference is, they never got it. In the case of WWI and WWII, the people who got freedom were given the opportunity because WE intervened in those wars. People from this country didn't just die for freedom in this world, WE made it happen. And, I'm seeing where it's just being thrown away again.
