Hello i have a question on mounting a scope. I have a heavy barrel 6x284 that's fluted. Warren bases with Burris XTR rings 30mm with a NF 3.5-15x50. with the scope mounted I can see daylight between the barrel and scope bell. But i cant get a piece of note book paper threw it. Is this OK since i can see light? If not i have some thin brass shim sheets can i shim between the scope and rings? Would this be OK or what should i do? I'm kind of wondering if i did shim if the scope would hold solid in the mount being shimmed. Need you guys advice i just like it as close as i can get its just more comfortable shooting for me any ways. Thanks for you time

Re: Got a question about scope mounting

I belive you should do something about it.
I am pretty convinced that the vibrations makes the objective bell to hit the barrel (or vice versa or both)

So more or less it's like someone is hammering on your scope with a hammer for each round, is that good?

Shimming is something not existing in my world and I would definitely recomend against it.
New rings, or new base in proper height, is anyway far cheaper than a new scope!
