Got my new J. Allen Chassis

They are great chassis have 2 of them, only thing they lack is an adjustable butt plate. Never understood why they don’t have it. Patiently waiting for this to come available.

They told me that the adjustable butt plate was on their list.... But they we working on other things first. They spent a long time developing the Tikka chassis before they released it.

I've handled a lot of chassis', and the JAE are by far my favorite. My PRS gun and .300NM have JAE chassis'.

Top notch quality, arguably the "comfiest" chassis on the market, great CS, and they have been coming out with some great accessories.

While an adjustable butt piece would be nice for the money, I haven't found the chassis lacking by not having one. I have no need to rapid adjust the LOP, but I can see how it would be handy if multiple people with different body builds are using the rifle. Short of that, the included LOP spacers included in the chassis work great - set your LOP with the spacers and leave it.

Only time I find the rapid adj butt plate priceless are on some practical/field type shoots I do where you can go from a prone stage to sling stage or back laying.

got to the range this weekend, I really like the chassis. One question, if the rounds in the magazine feed perfectly then there is no problem, but sometimes the rounds or at least the top round will not be pointing up enough and the bolt will not close. I have to put my finger in there and push down on the back of the round to make the front end "pop up" and then every thing is OK. then occasionally the round under the round being loaded in the chamber will slide forward just an 1/8" or so and when the rifle is fired and the round ejected the tip of the round being loaded gets caught on the edge of the chamber and I have to again put my finger in there and push back on the round to get it to "pop up" so it can be loaded properly.

Has anyone experienced anything like this and if so, what advise do you have?

the mag release is adjustable. try that.

I have, I'm for sure no expert on the subject but I think it's more an issue on how the rounds are sitting in the magazine. there are times I can cycle the bolt completely through all the rounds in the Mag. Then the next time I may have to put my finger in there twice to push down on the back of the rounds to make them "pop up" so they can slide into the chamber. …..That's going to cost me big time at matches. I've got to get this figured out.

Get the bottom of your feed ramp notched.

For those rounds that aren't "popping up" - open the front of the feed lips of the magazine a bit.

I just held a JAllen for the first time yesterday at the local gun show.. $2499 CAD sure is a hefty price tag.

Sitting beside it was a few MDT that felt pretty good, but I can get over how nice the JAllen felt. I almost regret picking it up it was so nice.

In the process of buying a house and getting married, so it's hard to spend money on things right now. Was extremely tempted to pick one up for my Tikka. Now I know what I want
