Got my new Savage MKII TR & CZ WOW X2!!

Re: Just got my new Savage MKII TR ----WOW!!!

As you can see I edited my post title.Just could not help myself! All the discussion on "which one" got the best of me and decided I needed both to see for myself. I picked up my CZ 452 Varmit yesterday and my 20MOA rail came today. The beauty is my new Viper switches from Savage to CZ with ease, just loosen the two ring nuts and GTG!
The Savage TR is an awesome rig and I think I got lucky and got one of the better ones as you all can see from the previous picts but the CZ is a tighter shooting gun and more consistent across the board. The trigger is breaking at a crisp, clean 10.1 ounces and capable of near perfect groups when I do my part, near .22 five shot groups!!! Got lucky on the CZ and the stock is gorgeous and a new stock in the near future will be acquired to keep this one pristine. Going to a dot shoot tonight and see what happens. Rules are no more than 6.5x at 40 yds, ought to be interesting. The question is which rifle to take or is there a question afterall that is yet to be determined. Two days into comparing the two rifles is not enough.
Both eat Wolf MT in case you are wondering.

40 yd group on 20x bottom hole is before correction and one flyer four in that hole, the "X" below #18 is history.

50 yds after mounting the Viper 5 shots on 6.5X target like the ones shooting tonight at the match.

Re: Just got my new Savage MKII TR ----WOW!!!

Been trying my best to determine which rifle shoots the best between the Savage and the 452 Varmit. I have used the same scope on both rifles and have determined they are both great rifles but the CZ seems to be more consistent across the board. The Savage prefers 8-10 rounds before it becomes consistent while the CZ seems to be pretty well point on from the get go. Both rifles have shot Wolf MT very well but the CZ prefers Eley Match while the Savage does not. I shot the April Short range Hide Target clean with a clean barrel CZ and could never pull it off with my TR.

Re: Just got my new Savage MKII TR ----WOW!!!

I am a huge fan of the CZs, and it is true about the 455 replacing the 452. I have read a bunch of mixed reviews on it though, and think you made the right choice on the 452 Varmint. I had a Varmint model in .17Mach2, but sold it when I got an opportunity to buy a BNIB American in .17Mach2. She was an absolute shooter.

Since I started the thread I now have 800 rounds through the tube. I cleaned the barrel and took it back out this morning. It appears the Savage has come to life.
Top left is cold bore, the CB shot is always low to the right and I had one I know I pulled.

50 yards
Bipods & rear bag
Wolf MT
Savage MK II TR
Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42
wind 5-7 mph
50 yards
I have the same issues with a cold bore shot from my TR. I feel better I'm not the only one experiencing this.
