Got the news this morning.

Re: Got the news this morning.

Wonderful news! Being a dad was the best thing that happened to me after being a husband. Good for you mate. Get ready for the ride and may all your visits to the doctor be brief and full of positive news.

Cheers!

Re: Got the news this morning.

Congratulations Colt!

Seems like only yesterday that mine were on the way.

Only thing that bums me out now is that they grow up and think we are goofy and excessively nostalgic for the time when they were tiny, and the only things we lived for, and now wonder why we would ever want to relive it...

And perhaps they have a point! I can't help wondering how I might have spent more time with them when they were very little and still effectively provide for them.

My point is, time is precious. Enjoy it and make the most of it as you are embarking on one of the only things we were wired to do.

Good health and fortune to both you and your wife!

Re: Got the news this morning.

Congratulations to you and the wife. It's a life changing experience, cherish every second they are grown before you know it.

Re: Got the news this morning.

Congrats! My wife is due Sep 4 and it was not planned either, I still remember that light headed sick to my stomach feeling when she told me. Now I couldn't be happier.

Re: Got the news this morning.

Thanks for all the advice and kind words fellas. I had her read the comments with me. We were both a little teary eyed! What a wonderful feeling. I dont think it has really hit either of us just yet. Dr. visit went well today. We spoke with the nurse and scheduled an appointment for next week to actually see the Doc and perform the Ultrasound. She is 6 weeks and 3 days today. It amazes me how they can determine all that they do. We were sent home with a large sack full of magazines, informative reading, and enough prenatal vitamins to supply everyone here on the hide...

Re: Got the news this morning.

Congrats man! I have a 2 year old boy, and I'm 41. This is our first after many attempts. Let me say this. The balance between wanting to provide and spending time is very delicate. You're gonna find yourself racing home everyday, to maximize your time, well I do at least. In a perfect world, I would be a stay at home dad..

Re: Got the news this morning.

I remember that phone call at 4am. Wasnt planned. I travel for work and I was asleep in the hotel. Sick feeling in the pit of your stomach but also the warm feeling. She will be going to her first day of kindergarden on August 22nd. first 5 years were great but flew by. Good luck and congrats.

Re: Got the news this morning.

First off congrats...your life will never been the same.

You're gonna be tired, and still get no sleep. Your wife is gonna be grouchy and that'll make you grouchy. She'll get mad at you for no reason and you'll get mad at her.

Your gonna spend less time behind the trigger. Your gun money is gonna go into diapers and baby food.

You're gonna worry all the time and have tons of anxiety about the future.

then in a moment... all that goes away...the entire world stops...when...that baby looks at you and smiles.

It will often get better and better. When you hear for the first time "daddy". When they run up to you and give you a hug when you get home from work. When they craw up on the couch with you when you're just watching the tube. The first time they say "I love you Daddy"

+1. All the anxiety was gone when I saw him come out, and he Kung-Fu gripped my finger all the way back to the birth suite. Ahh yes, the first "daddy" and "i nub new daddy"...never forget it. I also have his first hair cut hair, framed. Lol. It's the best man. Here's some good advice as well, don't get caught up in too much planning! Just do your best, that's all he/she wants, eventhough we can be our worse critics/judges.

Re: Got the news this morning.

CONGRATS!!! I found out I was going to be a dad when I was 20. I am now 25 and have two kids. they make me smile and make the end of the day great! Neither were planned and turned out to be the best little surprises in my life. They are probably the only reason i am still alive. slowed my life style down quite a bit. sold the crotch rocket, snowmobiles, quads. changed my driving habits. kinda hard to describe how it changes you until you experience it. i now always think before i do anything now and make sure its safe so i am around to raise them right.

Re: Got the news this morning.

Our oldest daughter turns 40 week after next. Now my 11 year old grandson is out shooting me...

Enjoy every day and every moment with your baby. They're only small for a little while.
