Grayboe Stocks?

Im not a huge fan of the Grayboe. I know a guy who just purchased one and is already looking to replace it with a McMillan. I have an HS Precision that came with my factory gun and it fits my needs. That being said, Ive never seen a high dollar aftermarket stock turn a poor shooter into a match winner.

You're not a huge fan of Grayboe because you know a guy that prefers McMillan over Grayboe? I would reserve judgement after actual ownership. I've never had an issue with any I've owned.

Not to zombie this thread but has anyone tried a Remage set-up in a rRidgeback? If so how much if any channel work was needed.
Thanx
If anything needs to be done it would take all of 30 seconds to do. I opened up my grayboe stock to fit a m24 barrel in less than 10 minutes with nothing more than a Dremel with a heavy grit sanding wheel.

I don't think there would be too much work based on other barrel nuts I've fit to stocks. Have to remember without the shoulder the barrel is already a smaller diameter, so after the nut it may not be too much larger than a normal setup. A socket wrapped in 120 grit makes quick work in my experience.

I was looking at the Ridgback stock that sells for $599.
It’s unfortunate that it doesn’t have an aluminum bedding block similar to something like the B&C Medalist stock.

They do however have the pillars molded into the stock allready.
Due to the design of the stocks they are stupid simple to modify as well.
I put an atlas action in a renegade and had to lengthen the ejection port cut out, cut it for a side bolt release, relieve it for the trigger hanger and open the channel up for a M24 profile barrel.
They are solid stocks and I have no real complaints with mine so far just need to add some texture now and an adjustable cheek piece and paint.

I wouldn't say an aluminum bedding block is the end all requirement..... A lot still need skim bedded, and I've had a few BC's that the blocks were not right which the receiver was not seating right..... These were from Stocky's who exchanged them....

If you're a bedding fan and want the stock for just that one action, or don't mind having it ground out for a different one should you change your mind then it's not a show stopper. If you hate bedding for all the previous reasons, or because you don't want to have to pay extra for it then a chassis is the better option, either full blown as in an MPA, or as a hybrid in a KRG Bravo, or a mini chassis in a Manners stock.

I have ridgeback and its non bedded and shoots light out. Cheaper than others but i love the features on them. I will stick with the greyboe and stick extra in pocket.

4 shot group rem 700 300 win mag unbedded

I was planning to order a Vudoo with either a Grayboe or a KRG Bravo stock. I did a good amount of research. All the Grayboe models have aluminum pillars and are GTG . I really liked the looks of the Renegade with adjustable cheek model. Vudoo was out of stock for that model with no ETA to get more. So I had to decide between the Ridgeback and the KRG Bravo…..I was on the phone and until the last second I wasn’t sure which way to go…. I ended up going with a KRG Bravo in Sako green mainly for additional upgrade options down the road and the fact that the person on the phone had both stocks and felt that grip on the KRG Bravo was more comfortable to shoot for smaller hands.

The grayboe ridgeback has a much smaller grip than the krg bravo. The ridgeback has a smaller grip than the renegade. I really liked the ridgeback stock and that would be the one area that I would change.

A lot of guys like the KRG Bravo and it works, but it feels cheap by comparison (which it is). I bet you will like the Bravo as most do.

Nice thread. I have been debating on just buying the Bergara Ridgeback in 300PRC or buying a barreled action and specing it how I want. May just go with the complete from Bergara as it will be cheaper.
