I just ran into these 10/22 barrels tonight while doodling around for some new iron sights. Has anybody used either of these green mountain barrels?

if the link's not working, here's the skinny-
The stinger barrel is .920"x20" with a 1:18 twist, the ad states that it is specifically designed for 22 stingers and other HV 22LR ammo

The Subsonic barrel is .920"x20" with a 1:9 twist, the ad states that it is specifically designed for subsonic match stuff like green tag and wolf match.

I'd appreciate any input on these two odd ducks, as I will at some point be in the market for a nice barrel for my rabbit/bird gun.

Re: Green MTN stinger/s-sonic barrels..?

The subsonic barrel is meant to be used with suppressor with the 60 grain sss by aguila. This does make a deadly quiet rifle. The fast twist is meant to stabilize those 60 grain bullets.

yeah, roger, but have you seen them in action? The concept's fascinating, and it'd be nice to know what kind of groups they're getting, and some bullet test results as well. If nobody's got any info, then I guess I'll just have to take the plunge, gather it myself and report back

Re: Green MTN stinger/s-sonic barrels..?

The only thing I'd be concerned about is if the faster rate would stabilize anything but the 60gr. Then you'd be stuck with one load. I've thought about this in the past also. My rifles shoot 40gr SS so well I've never tried to stabilize the 60's. Definitely let us know your data.

Re: Green MTN stinger/s-sonic barrels..?

The 1-9 twist barrels seem to shoot the other 40gr sub sonic loads well. At least mine have.

They have, the Winchester 40gr SSHP's made in Australia are outstanding.

Yeah, I thought about that little doozie long and hard.. especially since I can't find any of those 60 grain bullets here in AK. Thanks for the input everyone, At some point this fall I'll be aquiring one of these things and weather permitting (turns out 22LR doesn't like the alaskan winter very much) I'll get you some data.
