Working with High Caliber for a MK12 Mod0 in 6.5 Grendel. Kevin has two barrels available, the Douglas and a Criterion. I’m not sure which way to go. I’ve always viewed Douglas as an upper mid grade barrel but I’m all honesty I’m blind here.
Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated.

Following as I'm in the same boat with a Grendel build as well. FWIW I spoke to Kevin about this same topic, he spoke highly about Douglas barrels. I can only speak for Douglas barrels in 2.23 Wylde as that's what's in my Mk12 mod1 build and it shoots lights out. Best of luck.

Get yourself a Bartlein 1-8 5R Blank from BugHoles.com

Can speak to the Bartlein 1:8. Is, hands down, most accurate AR barrel I own, whether AR10 or 15. From cold bore on, always consistent. Who chambers it for you, and how they cut throats will make quite a bit of difference in the net result, as well. Buy once/cry once gets over used, but as Jake has noted, is applicable, especially as this is a longer, slower process you don't want to have to reboot. Three Bartleins tell me so.

I appreciate the feedback.
I've had Broughton, Bartlein, Rock Creek barrels. The issue is that the Douglas and Criterion are what they have available. If I was doing a build from the ground up then I would get another Bartlein.

Don't settle for what "they have on the shelf." Douglas makes great barrels, but order a Bartlein blank from www.bugholes.com if that's what you want and have it shipped right to your Smith. Quick and easy.

Thanks for all the advice, found Cradfock Precision. Through Bartlein’s website. They have a barrel ready to go

Careful, make sure you give them your exact specs on what you want. Chamber feed cone, etc. There are 2 threads going right now where guys are having feeding issues, both with Craddock 6.5 barrels which didnt have proper feed cones on the chamber side and they had to have new barrel extensions installed and a proper feed cone cut into the chamber. Bullets were not feeding and tips slamming into the back of the barrel. Just an FYI

Feed cone on AR barrel or bolt action? Or are you talking about feed ramps on the extension? Just kind of scratching my head.

Im talking about the feed cone on the AR barrel itself, or lack of one in the 2 threads going with issues. Youll see both my 308 and 6.5cm semis in the thread below have feed cones installed by my smith with the 6.5cm barrel having even more of a feed cone than the 308. I have never had a single feeding issue to date. The issues with these 2 guys Craddock barrels is the bullet tip is hitting the back of the barrel instead of feeding into the chamber. One guy resolved his issue by having the barrel extension removed, a feed cone cut into the barrel and a new barrel extension installed.

So for those that like to test barrels, JSE Surplus has a huge Wilson barrel sale going on. Every Wilson or WOA barrel (Wilson Blank) I've shot, tested, owned was a hammer. Especially the 308 semi Wilson barrels I got from JSE a few months back that I reviewed in my Bugdet 308 semi build thread. It straight hammered.

They have 3 Wilson 20" 6.5 Grendel barrels on sale and they come with a matching bolt for awesome prices. I grabbed the fluted one to test.

Wilson Arms 20" 6.5 Grendel Hbar SS Stripped w./ .136 Matched Bolt $247.50

Wilson Arms 20" 6.5 Grendel Hbar SS Nitrided Stripped w./ .136 Matched Bolt $256.50

WILSON ARMS 20" 6.5 GRENDEL HBAR SS FLUTED STRIPPED W/ MATCHED BOLT $288.00
