One of my close friends ordered a new Grizzly lathe several months back and just yesterday he received a call that it was being delivered. He headed home, friends with heavy machinery in tow. He was a few blocks from his house when he got the call...the shipping company had DROPPED his brand new lathe. Now we're both losing money (I cerakote rifles) because we're having to turn customers away.

Anyone have any advise on how to handle this problem? Grizzly said they don't have any lathes in stock so I fear that we're going to have to wait several months again.

Re: Grizzly HELP!!!

what are your options really? is the lathe useable? I highly doubt you are going to have any case against the shipping company for anything other than a new lathe.

That shit just sucks

Re: Grizzly HELP!!!

This is really a sad situation! Sorry to hear that. We recently had something similar happen to a $40K South Bend lathe that the customer had paid $5K for an exclusive truck, door to door! You would think they could not screw that up.

The demand for our lathes has been very high and we are out of stock of numerous models. There are many on the sea and on order, most scheduled to go out as soon as they come in based on pending orders.

PM me your order number or activity number and I will look into some sort of a solution. No promises, but will give it attention.

Thanks,

PG

Re: Grizzly HELP!!!

I know shit happens, but this shit wouldn't have happened if the driver had secured his load. There were no straps or anything on the lathe while in transit. It tipped over when the driver hit a curb.

PG, I'll be in touch, thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

you will still be hard pressed to get any satisfaction other than a replacement lathe, are they trying to say that they won't replace it? If that is the case, then yeah, you will have things to hollar about, but if they are going to replace it, then there isn't much you can do other than wait, and hope PG can help you out somehow.

Re: Grizzly HELP!!!

Is there any chance of still getting it for the scrap value? Depending on how it was crated and fell the actual damage may be more cosmetic. Might not cost all that much to fix it up like new. The lathe that Nathan Dagley @ Straight Shot Gunsmithing uses is a salvage unit and you would never know it once he repaired it. As long as the ways aren't broken or horribly twisted it might make a great second lathe to use until your new one arrives.

If you guys don't want it I would be interested in it.

This is exactly why we decided to go the way of the Grizz. Not that we planned on having to test out the customer service this soon...but none the less I believe they are great people to work with.

Re: Grizzly HELP!!!

I ordered a grizzly gunsmith lathe back in Feb. They told me it would be in stock in about two months, So I waited two months, then four months, then seven months went by with no lathe, so I cancelled and bought a different brand. I will never recommend their products. Customer services was not great either.
