Groundhog caliber I intend to eat them

Groundhog is greasy as f!@#

My grandparents made us kids eat it when they did. Freaking nasty. Really strong. Squirrel is WAY better.

We used a pellet rifle and a 22 depending on mt grand dads mood
Yep, tried it once. Gotta soak it in salt water for a couple days and it still tastes like crap.

I like the taste of deer. Ergo, I am a dog.
Best 'deer' I've had was some Axis Deer some buddies poached off the Chapman Ranch in S Texas (50 years ago). Smoked it all day and it was delicious...but then most anything slow smoked is good.

A colleague of mine claims he likes Axis Deer more than whitetail. I have not had Axis to compare but I have had plenty of whitetail meat. Granted, a lot of it has been processed by others. Most recently was from the largess of another who had a harvest finished and packaged at Cinnamon Creek Ranch.. They make some venison burgers that if you simply sear each side, it will be so delicious and hard to screw up.
