After a long, hard fight with colon cancer, long time member Gruff passed away last night. While he hasn't been active on the boards for the last few months (for obvious reason) he was a long time contributor and known by many her on the Hide. I thought everyone should know so I am posting for you guys. He was a great father and loved shooting. He will be missed. I wil post arrangements here for those interested.

Re: Gruff

I only knew your dad for a few years but I have to say he was a great guy. He was always helping others out with what ever he could with reloading and shooting. He will be missed by many. I'm sorry for your lost.

Re: Gruff

Good reason for any guys in their 40's to get checked. My sister gave me a link that they have a new test that is DNA or some form of blood test that is going to make the butt snake a thing of the past. To late for me, I am no longer a virgin

Re: Gruff

Didnt know him, but he sounds like a good man. You usually reap what you sow. I would expect hes in a good place. Condolences for your loss.

Re: Gruff

Seth,

Gene will be sorely missed by everyone here on the Hide and at the HardRock matches. He was a good man, very helpful with new shooters, and happy to share his knowledge and experience with anyone.

Gene was an excellent part of the HR match management. He was a pleasure to work with and helped make the matches as much fun and as popular as they are.

My condolences to you and the rest of his family,

Re: Gruff

Seth,

Condolences to you and your family. I always enjoyed your Dad's posts, he was one of the go to posters for me when I was new here. It was evident that his advice could be trusted.

Godspeed Gene

Re: Gruff

Gene will truly be missed. As a new shooter he was always there to answer a question or lend a helpin hand. I always enjoyed his company, and will miss out HR conversations.

He was a fine example of a man, and he was taken too early.

Re: Gruff

Seth,
You dad was a fine man! He always helped me with hand loading questions whenever I asked. Plus, he gave Bill and Alan hell whenever he could. I always liked just sitting around him and some of more seasoned shooters trying to absorb some of their knowledge. He will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Re: Gruff

Guys, thanks for the well wishes. I wanted to give everyone the update on services. The hardrock guys should have gotten this info but the visitation will be Friday night at Jeffcoat funeral home in Opelika on Fredrick rd and the service will be at the graveside at 10 am at Garden Hills which is the cemetery right beside the funeral home. All times listed are CST.

Thanks,

Sethro Out

Re: Gruff

A man is never gone until his name is never spoken again.

I will never think of Hard-Rock, see/hear of a Sightron scope, or eat at any Logan's Roadhouse w/o remembering Gene.
