Gun/ammo/optic insurance?

+1 USAA. I've got Valuable Personal Property on all my toys. Won't tell you how much, but if it breaks..... full replacement value. Can't beat that.
I have USAA as well but I'm about to drop it and move firearms & accessory coverage over to Eastern. USAA coverage is about 3x the quoted cost of Eastern as I have to itemize each scope/rifle/suppressor/red dot/pistol. I don't see anything in its brochure that indicates it is anything other than full replacement value coverage.

I learned the hard way that my homeowners only covered $2500. Luckily I didn't loose everything, bout $4500, and I didn't have as much valued items as I do now.

I itemized with my homeowners for a while but traded several off on others and gave them updated info at time of trade. At a policy review a year later the still hadn't updated inventory and I figured I wouldn't have likely had those covered so switched to Eastern lowest plan and got more coverage at same price and no itemization. Hopefully never have to find out how the claim is but sounds good in speaking with them.

They caught the piece of shit that took mine, plead guilty to felony, and the courts did virtually nothing to him. Caught him again involved in shooting, possession of weapon as felon, and again virtually no punishment from courts. Yet when I try to talk to gun control activists about getting tough on these criminals they either don't want to talk about that or tell me if I didn't have them, they couldn't steal them. So it's my fault.....apologies for the off topic rant.

I'd make sure it's full replacement value. Also any "schedule" or "valuable personal property" insurance is typically going to have you itemize your items. Just the nature of the beast. I know that when I've needed it, I've received funds within 24 hours to replace my items. Cost isn't the only determining factor in my insurance company. Level of service is huge too. I'm shocked that USAA would quote 3X the amount of others for any insurance. Sounds fishy to me.

USAA has never raised my rates and I've had a few claims. The most recent being $10K worth of body damage to my Raptor on Thanksgiving tearing through the woods on my property to a forest fire that was starting, I told them exactly what happened, they covered it fully and said my rates wouldn't go up and they haven't.
I agree. My claims from USAA have never raised my rates either. Maybe to people who are trying to take advantage of the system get their rates raised. My whole family is on USAA. No other insurance company has been able to touch it. For auto, homeowners, valuable personal property. I've even had insurance companies call to give me a quote asking what my current insurance company was. When I told them USAA, they said we can't compete with them.

One more thing. I've heard a lot of people state what they have but haven't heard about how they have enjoyed their product. Has any of these eastern insurance holders ever had to submit a claim? How was the process? It's one thing to think you're covered, but a lot of times that's not always the case. I'd like to hear experiences with actually needing to utilize Eastern or others. Also another poster was recommending the Historic Firearms policy from them to the group here.... How is a glock 27 or Remington 870 going to fit into that policy? At least with USAA, it's clear, it's on their website, it's stated that you can add anything to the policy. And clearly states full replacement value.

Interested in actual results as well. I know my homeowners policy is full replacement and have seen many utilize it as well, but it is a little higher than what Eastern would be per year.
