He half way has a point, and half way is missing the point.
Do you NEED a KAC gun? (well, lol yes, but no). Weapons and equipment are tools. It all depends on how much you need to rely on it, what performance you need it to achieve and what it needs to be able to hold up to as far as durability.
No different from the guy wrenching on vehicles all day; you CAN use the cheapest made in china pot metal driver out there, but if you do this long enough, you quickly find out a ton of reasons as to why it can be 'good enough' until it isn't. Weapons are the same; the guy who takes 3 shots for deer season every year and doesn't shoot until the next year probably doesn't need an AX AI or S&B optic or PLRF15c. People who train and rely on their weapons to work when they are needed are playing a game of probability and get a higher chance of success as far as function/sustained durability with more quality weapons and parts (for the most part, see diminishing returns).
Ironically, a lot of budget minded 'good enough' mentality people end up actually spending more in the long run because they get set against spending the money for the quality tool and keep making excuses for buying the cheap shit over and over after it fails.
I don't feel bad for anyone who says they cant afford stuff. You're lying to yourself. Look at all the cheap and stupid bullshit you throw money away on in a given month and just stop it. You'll be able to afford the quality shit if you do.
Poor people are poor for a reason.

meh, I know someone with a hi point .45. it's never failed to fire anything thrown at it. steel case included. in the event you run out of ammo, it becomes a 7 pound projectile that's hard to take.
He is trying to create a path for new/poor guys to get into the gun scene.
