H&K 94 build or buy? Whats best?

Hey guys,Ive been in love with the mp5 for a while now but i realize ill never get to own one so im wanting to settle with a hk94 instead.My question is how can i build one myself? I dont want to pay $4,000.00 for one so i would rather build a clone with h&k parts. Where could i get a reciever that will take a semi auto mp5 parts kit???? Im not tryin to build a full auto or nothing like that,just soemthin to play with.Ive seen those reciever flats but i havent heard anything about them.Soemone pleeezz help me out,im just a guy thats addicted to cool guns...

I can get you a SW5 (MP5 clone) that has been completely reworked over by Jason @ Investment Grade Firearms for $1500.00 if you're interested...runs like a champ and has no more than 300rds through her.

CA94 from Coharie is the current best value. Shoot until something breaks and then replace it with German HK parts. The last dozen or so I have had in ran perfect from the start.

I have had in builds from Jayson at IGF on Special Weapons receivers and they ran great. I have had SBR conversions on HK94's by Murray Urbach, TSC Machine, RDTS, IGF and Curtis Higgins. Each of these were VERY nice but they are much more expensive. Guns built on MKE or US receivers by Gillie Bear (Jeff Walters), IGF and RDTS are very nice also. Jeff Walters is very good to work with. I went to his HK build class last summer and had a blast.

You can call adam at Hkparts.net He can steer you in the direction as far as HK parts and who does the work. It can get up there in price if your going the HK route. 90% of the people who buy clones spend a good amount of coin installing factory HK parts to get them to run right. So do ir right the first time or you will be doing it right the second time.

Yes, you can,

Pretty much this sums up what a clone is.

A company starts with a flat they bend, weld, finish the flat into a receiver. (body of the HK) Then they either add their own proprietary parts, or they build a quality clone by using nothing but HK parts. When this is finished and everything should be in spec. Then all mp5/94 parts should bolt/pin right up. Hope this helps.

You really need to educate yourself on bolt clearances, my Brother bought a SP89 that was converted to HK-MP5kn, RDTS did a wonderful job except the bolt clearance was way too much, it was sent back to RDTS for warrenty work, mean while his trigger pack came in, it took RDTS a couple months to fix something that never should have left the shop, everything is sweet now, all I'm saying is learn how to check bolt clearance.

Definitely. Do a web search on his name and "special weapons" for some interesting reading.

Also, HK has filed a ton of lawsuits against clone makers and even some Airsoft vendors during the last few months for IP infringement, so if you want one get it sooner rather than later. These are typical case filings: HK v Cohaire & Special Weapons.

All said and done, doorkickers offer is a really good one. You can not buy a clone and shove parts in it for that. IGF does really good work on HK type stuff too.

I have a Cohaire. I got it fully expecting to have to spend thousands on german parts to get it running, but so far, it is running like a top. I can not complain at all. I got one of the earlier ones, I don't know if they have improved or declined since then though.

Bottom line is, get a good one, or get a shitty one and make it good. Just get one, they are a blast to run.

HKParts.net is a GREAT place for parts!

Oh, one more thing, make sure you either get one with a pinned on (removable) barrel extention or a "pistol" so that it is easy and cheap to SBR (cause you WILL want to SBR it!)
