I just picked up a H&K P30L on Friday, haven't had the opportunity to shoot it however. Was wondering if anyonbe had experience with this sidearm, what the accuracy was, durability? Since it's a H&K I assume it's top of the line, ready to rock combat pistol. It's chambered for 9mm. It's the exact same as the H&K P30 just with a longer slide.

Thanks.

Re: H&K P30L - Thoughts?

I have one, I have had it for some time and used it down RO.

Accuracy is pretty good close in, but after about 10 or 15 yards it shoots high... something I have heard HK people have experienced before. It just seems to shoot high and I can't figure it out. The big neon glowing dots in the sights are distracting to me as well. Although for next to the bed its pretty good because its nice controls on it and the dots stand out at night.

Durability, not so good, I have a nice 3/8" chunk taken out of the polymer frame at the rails. So as you move down the side of the rail there is a piece missing.

Since I haven't used it much, and I have gone back to glocks and sigs, the HKs have consistently left me wanting. I have a USPc, P30, and P30L and really need to unload them all.

Did H&K follow through on their warranty and replace the frame? That seems to me like something that has to do with a manufacturing defect versus user error. As for accuracy I have a 1911 Kimber .45 for when I want to try any challenging (for a pistol) distances. The P30L is mainly going to be by the bed or in the truck cab.

Re: H&K P30L - Thoughts?

The LEM trigger is somewhat of an improvement over the standard issue. I've had a few P-series in the shop, and the standard trigger has one of the longer take-up's I've seen on modern production pistol. As with any trigger, it has more to do with how well the shooter adapts to the characteristics.

Well if the weather had been more cooperative then I would have found out first hand how well it shoots, however it was snowing so hard that I only had about 250ft of visability. For a pistol that's fine but I have some load I need to test in the .308 too.

Going in as either Rifleman or Assualtman. Most likely going to do a tour of duty and if I like it I will try out for Force Recon or the scout-sniper program. However it's one thing at a time and I need to get through boot camp and SOI before I look to try for more.
