Im piecing together a ELR match gun and doing my homework on the 300PRC and the 300NM

It’s going to be 90% prone gun so the plan is to run a 30-32 barrel and use 230 to 250 class bullets.

Is there any reason why powders in the same class of burn rate are listed for these heavy pills but not H50BMG?

There is also large number of people reporting on loads with US869 and RL50 which are relatively slower all things being equal.

Any 30 shooters here running the H50BMG on the 300prc or NM case?

Thanks

I'm shooting a 300 Norma, getting 2904 in 25 1/2" barrel, 1:10 twist, with Berger 230's and 86 gr's of 50BMG with an ES of 3 FPS over a 10 shot string. RL 26, RL 33, and N570 will produce better velocities but 50BMG at .040 off the lands will always be my go to because its usually the only powder on the shelf in interior AK. This photo was a 4 shot group at 774 yards with 50 BMG, 230 Berger's

If you can’t find the usual suspects, use Ramshot LRT. It’s easy to find, still a bit slow for these cartridges, but much better than H50.

I have 2 lbs of 24N41 I am going to try in my 300 RUM, Main reason I've been putting it off is I can't find anymore so if it works good I'll just be sad.
How far are you planning on shooting? What matches you going to do?

Mild derailment but; if it doesn’t quite work in 300 prc/norma, does it work in 338 edge?

So I asked this same question to berger, they actually got back to me, and it's clear that it's not about the burn rate. It's about energy density. As previous posted said, it will work, but not enough case capacity.

Hopefully this post isn't tooooo dead.
With Alliant cutting back powder to the US...the supply of RL33 I have and was planning to use in my 300 Norma Imp isn't going to last forever.

Im considering Ramshot LRT, VV 24N41 as well as H50BMG (RL50 if i could find it)

28" barrel and plan to only be shooting 245 and 250s after fire forming 50 cases

I used 24N41 to fire form cases for a 375 RUM Imp and 30 Sherman Mag, it worked but it was slow as balls.

Don't discount N170 & N570
That'd be my advice just run N570, some people say it's harder on throats but I haven't noticed that to bad, plus you'll get good speed. I'm guessing high volume shooting isn't a concern since you are only planning to run 50 cases so that'll help mitigate throat erosion.
N170 will work great and be less hard on throat if that is a concern of yours
