Hunting & Fishing had a good day hunting

Re: had a good day hunting

I do not know a great deal about it, but understand there are some very high tec ML's built for long range elk hunting. These are to qualify for the ML season, but offer no disadvantage to a real LR set up. There is one company that is specializing in them.

Re: had a good day hunting

Most of the long range muzzleloaders are using smokeless powder. I can get my 50 cal Knight muzzleloader to about 325 yards accurately with 130gr of 777 and a 230gr bthp solid copper. Forgot the drop offhand, but it is a lot!

545 yards with a muzzleloader. WOWZERS!!

Picks of said muzzleloader, deer, and video. What were the deer, whitetail, muley, does, bucks?

Congrats!!

God Bless,

Re: had a good day hunting

I purchased one of the Ultimate Firearms 50 cal last year and have shot several animals with it. The longest shot was a doe at 265 but it will also shoot moa at 500 if the wind is willing to cooperate. The maximum load is 200 grains of black powder and a 275 grain Parker bullet with an ignition which is composed of a 45 pistol casing primed with a 215 Magnum rifle primer. I get the most accuracy from two of the Magnum pellets at 65 grains each "130 total". On a three shot group at 200 the holes will be touching...Anything over that then the wind plays a huge factor. The Parker bullet has a BC of .300 so its still a brick but compared to the Hornady SST's which are .210...We'll...I'll take any advantage I can get...Check them out at Ultimatefirearms.com...
