Remember when Dumbass Biden said, the way to scare off possible home invaders was to take your double barreled shotgun and fire off both barrels to scare them away?
It's illegal to shoot firearms in the city limits!
If you fire up into the air, the law of gravity takes over and someone might get hurt!
The shotgun is now empty and would not detract any other or the original invaders if they had not been scared off in the first place!

All you need is a strong flashlight, blind 'em before you "light 'em up". IMO, lazer on a scattergun is overkill.
