Happy Columbus day, no Sir it's....

Columbus was lost. He though he found the back way to India. Hence "Indians"

Columbus' sailors were Basque. They brought VD to the new world. They got it from fucking dogs in the Azores.

Columbus never set foot on North America yet he "discovered" it.

Viking settlements in Nova Scotia from 1022 AD predates Columbus in 1492 by 470 years.
What VD are you talking about?

Syphilis was indigenous to the Americans and his crew, and many others brought it back to Europe. But the Europeans traded Small Pox for the syphilis they got.

All those natives that fought on the white mans side as scouts sure helped speed things up.
In every conflict throughout history a percentage of the soon to be conquered decide a life of treachery is better than a heroes death. This country is no better....you and I both have a neighbor that would sell you out for a bucket of extra crispy and a coke.

Selling someone out is one thing. Fighting and dying is another. Indian Scouts fought and died for the USA.

Donald McKay. Dad was Thomas McKay. Mom was She-Who-Rides-Like-The-Wind, a Cayuse Indian. He and his Warms Springs Indian Scouts were responsible for the capture and defeat of Captain Jack in the Modoc war.

Anyone here read much on the motivation of these men (Warm Springs Indian Scouts)?
Maybe the Warm Springs were treated better than stereotypically. Maybe men behaved differently back then. Maybe there was more than just one mixed marraige, and the father's were able to fend off the ... drama.
To go from independent nation, to subjugated people, to national hero's in just one generation is incomprehensible to me.

Agreed....and glad they did. But the fact remains that they sold out their own kind for a better life (in their opinion anyway) with the winning team. Would those same men have been scouts if the wagon burners were whipping the settlers and driving them off the continent?? Probably not.

Pompey Factor

Things were a little more complicated than stereotypical "Cowoys and Indians". For example this gentleman, Pompey Factor Seminole Indian Scout. Descended from escaped slaves and intermarried with Seminole Indians.

Factor On April 25, 1875, was serving as a private by the Pecos River in Texas where, "[w]ith 3 other men, he participated in a charge against 25 hostiles while on a scouting patrol." A month later, on May 28, 1875, Factor was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions during the engagement. He later deserted and went to Mexico. Then some time later he came back took his medicine and was discharged in 1880.

From the look on his face I sure wouldn't want to fuck with him.

And you things are complicated in Israel now.

Probably one of the most accurate bits of film to come from Hollyweird in regards to the Indian situation in the old west. Every race since the begging of time has conquered and been conquered. The thought that there should be guilt and remorse because of it is ridiculous.

There are winners and there are losers, if we don't get our shit together, we'll be losers!

Quit bitching.

You have Guinness.

And since when is “Ron” an Irish name?

Are you appropriating my culture?

P
My father's heritage was english, irish, and scottish. My grandmother was of english descent. My mother's father was from Germany.

There, that should have your ears grinding.
:D

Leftists really need to put down the smart phones and pick up a history book so we can hit them upside the head with it! Kinda ironic though when you think of Kamala whining about it, but yet her father is Jamaican and Jamaica was the place Columbus discovered.
