Hard Video to Watch-Driving

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

I almost didn't let my oldest girl drive to class this morning after watching this infuriating and entirely depressing video...

Not that I haven't done a stupid or careless thing while driving before, but adding them to the sheer numbers of other bone heads, freak occurrences, assholes, and otherwise benign people who screw up just once, makes for a thoroughly terrifying and solemn sense of inevitability.

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

Real life often is depressing. Especially when you realize that a lot of the senseless things that happen to people (like the ones in that video) could be prevented by common sense and just a little patience. Is getting someplace faster really worth dying over? Or conceivably worse, is it worth having someone else's blood on your conscience?

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

That is the best film I have seen in a long time about bad driving and should be seen by EVERY kid in a driver ed. class more than one time.
As a former LEO, I had to give a "Death Notice" to damn many times to the parents of "fresh" killed kids. Many times it was a T/C I worked too.........
Flesh and STEEL doesn't mix well!

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

I couldn't make it through the whole video. That was a tough video to watch. Accidents do happen, however we can all mitigate them by striving to use common sense. The one were the baby went into the windshield should have never happened. Also, the one were the guy walked out in front of a moving vehicle without looking, a little common sense would have saved his life ( I know the car was speeding, he should have looked). JMO. Everyone be careful out there.

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

Even the ones that were created on a set with actors were disturbing to watch. That should be shown to every drivers ed student. If I had kids I'd make them watch it all.

I thank God I never created any kind of accidents like that in my younger hot rod days.

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

2 of the actual accidents were in AZ and I remember both. (corvette vs Semi and the driver that hit the white supra head one -supra driver died while just driving home from work) I also worked claims at one point in my life... Even the dried blood everywhere in a vehicle can chill you to the bone when you know it is that of a child. Sobering....

Re: Hard Video to Watch-Driving

Being on the trauma surgeon end of it sucks less than being on the parent/family end of it. I held a 3 yr old boy in my arms while he died from his brain injury. He was standing in the seat when his mom t-boned another car while she was talking on her cell and running a red light. She was not belted either but she just had some scratches and burns from the airbag.
I had a girl brought to me that the emts were doing cpr on and they said she was talking to us before we got her out. She was a roll over in a convertible and was ripped in half, just her spine was intact, all her viscera were exposed, she was totally exsanguinated.
I have hundreds of images in my brain of maimed and dead from traffic crashes. You can't be too careful. And some asshole can still mow you down.
