Hey all, 1st post.

I'm in the process of buying a remington 700p in 223 (i have my reasons) with a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x50 (again i have my reasons). I want to buy a Harris bipod but i don't know which size to get either the 6-9 or the 9-13 ill only be shooting prone.I'm edging towards the 9-13 because of my height I'm 6FT.3" but i was thinking the 9-13 could be too tall for when i shoot 100 yards.

Thanks

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

In my experience it is chest/belly size that determines prone bipod height.
I also like to shoot them at the lowest setting most of the time and go up if needed.

So:
Slender=6-9"
Burley=9-13"

Hope this helps.

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

Skinny guy here.

6-9 is great for prone on dead, flat dirt and at a clean range. But out in the field I find I need taller to get over the ground weeds or on uneven ground.

I got the 6-9 first and use it the most, but I also have a 9-13 in the range bag for when I need it. They are both on QD mounts so switching only takes a few seconds and makes the whole day better.

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

I'm a pretty big guy. 6'4" and 260ish (haven't checked in a while). I used the 6-9 and Atlas just fine. You could make some short shooting sticks or just stack stuff up and stick your rifle on it to figure out what height you like the best.

Oh and there's nothing wrong with your gun or scope choice.

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

Thanks man, im 140ish and i think i will take your advice and stack the gun up and then measure the height needed, and yeah the reason i said "i have my reasons" about the gun and scope was because usually i say 223 and someone will comment off topic recommending an ar 15 or a 308

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

I have the 9-13 and it is great if the terrain is rough or there is a lot of brush. That being said, it is more difficult to use a rear sand bag than I feel a 6-9 would be. For my next rifle i will pick up the shorter one so I have the option.

Re: Harris Bipod Size??

I like the 9"-13" Harris swivel bipod, $100 14 ounces.

I like the 6.5" -9.5" Accu-Shot Atlas Bipod With Screw Clamp Style $250 11.5 ounces.

When I shoot, it always seems to be on 9".

I have the next size up Harris and the Next size down, and they never get used.
