Have to FL size?

Im fairly new to reloading so please bear that in mind. I have a Rem 700 police .308 bone stock from what i know and can tell. my problem is after i take once fired brass out of my gun I can neck size it and it will chamber just fine without a pill in it. as soon as i load it it will not chamber. i am under the SAAMI and from looking at it the bullet is not to far forward. so i have to FL everything for this gun. my neck sizers for all my other calibers work just fine. i am useing federal brass with 150gr sierra bt game kings. it not a big deal but just has me and a few others stumped. thanks for any input.

Have you tried rotating the brass when chambering it, to see if it is just a wallowed factory chamber?

i have not tried that.

Check the length of the brass and make sure it is within the specified tolerance and hasn't stretched.

Have you measured the neck diameter of both resized and loaded rounds both from the neck sizer and fl sizer? It would be really rare to have a minimum spec neck on a factory chamber, but your neck sized loaded cases could be a bit snug in your rifles chamber. Normally factory chambers have an ample amount of neck clearance, but strange things can happen sometimes.

What the Hell are you talking about?????? Neck sizing versus F/L sizing---- regardless of what you do, the total of the diameter of the bullet and the thickness of the neck of the case is the total diameter of the round.
This will have no bearing on the chamber-ability of the round, as far as this, IF ONE ROUND WILL CHAMBER, SO WILL THE OTHER-----if they don't, it isn't the diameter that is the problem!!!



I suspect the trim length or shoulder length---more likely the shoulder length.
Many folks here on the Hide will agree, neck sizing has very limited benefit. A properly adjusted F/L size die will not appreciably affect brass life, and it will guarantee reliable chambering......

OP, you need to get some measuring equipment, in this case, specifically an OAL guage. You need to measure your chamber for the max OAL with the bullets you are using....

Try marking the entire cartridge with sharpie. Chamber it and look for rub marks. This will tell you where you are tight. Look especially for rifling marks on the bullet.
