i was just wondering how most people take the wind into consideration at and over 1000 yard with a .308. On a calm day I have very little trouble making a decent 1moa or less group
What type of rig do you use for benchrest? You are the first I have heard of using 308 for long range benchrest. How do you like it. I am fixing to get a 308 barrel for my BR gun for 100 to 400 BR.
I am shooting a custom 27" savage with a shilen select match barrel, rifle basix trigger, hs stock, trued and timed action, and a nightforce scope. I actually have an all stock hs savage on the image page that i just painted and it shoots almost the exact same
I dont shoot competitively i just shoot out of a bench rest every weekend for fun. about 5 of us do this all the time. we r having a 375 cheytac built right now that we may shoot competitively

I try to take the value of the wind with every shot. (written or mental) Then once you have a baseline you should do well. If the wind is shifting from one way to the other, then I try to time it. Thats my novice approach.
what bullet do you shoot with the 308? I use 175 g sierra bthp.
At 1000 yards and with a windy day-over 10-15 miles per hr and 9-10 o'clock wind at my range,i have a heck of a time hitting consistently.I have a 24 inch barrel on my AIaw rifle and i only get about 2575 fps.Is this typical for the 308 and 175 grain bullet?
Jray, My son shot my 375ct yesterday in a 1000 yd match here in SoCal, Lawton action/barrel, Manners stock. Score was 196/200 with 6 X's, first time shooting this rifle at that distance. 350 smk's, Retumbo powder. (My back went out so he shot mine & his 7SAUM)
