Rifle Scopes Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical

Re: Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical

I have 2. The 4-14 and the 6.5-20. Both will function fine for the price point. Make sure that you verify and confirm the accurate setting of the power ring if you are usint the hash marks. Spend some time with a sharpie and a tape measure. My actual marks are both below the 10 power and the 20 power marks. I have now etched and painted a pair of dots to index from. Especially if someone is spotting for you.

Re: Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical

As Layinclose said, it says use 20x but true 20x may not be where 20x is marked on the power ring. It will be a little off. My 6x20 is off a bit also. If you do not have the power setting spot on then your mil hash marks will not be accurate. Draw a 3.6" sq tall target at exactly 100 yds. Adjust your power ring until the target drawn is bracketed between two 1 mil marks. Mark your power ring for this setting and you will be good to go. By the way, you can use 10x but your distance wil be twice what the mil formula comes up with.

Re: Hawke Sidewinder 30 Tactical

I use a Hawke Varmint SF 4X16 side focus on one of my rifles and it works as advertised. I can also tell you that Hawke has some of the best customer service that I have ever seen. The last scope that I had from them broke and from the time I sent it back to them and the time a got an upgraded model at no extra cost was about 8 days (it wasn't a whole lot of difference but was more expensive). Try that with Leupold, I've been waiting for over 3 months to get a elevation dial for M118 LR ammo for my Mark 4 M3 and they have sent me about half a dozen dials that I did not order. Sorry about the slam on Leupy's
