I’d like to get some knowledgeable opinions on an idea. If hBN works for coating bullets and lubricating the barrel (for lack of a better term), wouldn’t it also work for the action? Say, mixing some hBN with lube oil. As I understand it, the hBN fills the microscopic voids in the metal making a smoother surface. Wouldn’t that help the action as well, or am I over-thinking (or under-thinking) this? Isn’t that the idea behind the Remoil with Teflon? Would it hurt anything? I’ve got a pound of the stuff, and figure it might be useful for more than bullet coating. Appreciate any thoughts.

PS, I used the SH google search, but didn’t see anything. Sorry if the topic’s been covered.

Re: hBN as action lube?

Grease is, as I once said, an oil mixed with a thickening agent. No more nor less. A good synthetic oil such a Mobil 1 thickened with HxBN should be a dynamite lube. (Just like real dynamite...a mixture of nitroglycerine with a binder). JMHO
