I have been impressed with the factory coated 115 dtac's I have shot out of my .243 and am now looking into coating some .224 bullets.

So I was wondering if anyone had experience with Tubb's coating kit?

Or would I be better off putting something together myself like others have, or should I just send my bullets off to Copper Creek Cartridge Company for coating?

$45 for what looks like a few ounces, is a rip-off.

You can guy a pound of <5 micron hBN for $60 that will last forever.

I coat all of my boolits with hBN. I use an vitamin bottle with SS BBs in a Thumblers Tumbler. Add about a teaspoon of hBN tumble for 6 hours then towel off/blow off the bullets then store. I do about 50-60 per batch.

The bullets will have a matte look to them and feel 'soft' when they're ready.

Bad picture but you can see how it's not shiny anymore.

I do mine in a small tupperware container with a sealable lid, made for storing condiments. Like HighBinder, I use SS BB's and only do about 50 per container. I throw mine in the vibratory tumbler though and do 4-5 containers full at the time.

Damn, I've got to get a vib tumbler that's five times as many as I can do. How long do you tumble them for in the vib?

Usually a few hours, unless I forget it's outside running and then they go all night

Thanks, gives me an excuse to add one to my midway order.

Yep, that's where I get mine. I use hBN for other things too and about a year or so ago ordered 10lbs of sub-micron for my company and 1lb or -5 for bullets, didn't have any problems and they were very friendly (they're also about 20 mins from my house so that helped). Their hBN is drop shipped from somewhere out east and they have the same ISO standards that my industry uses so if it's your first time ordering it'll take an extra 2-3 days due to the paperwork.

While you're waiting for it to be delivered get an airtight container and some desiccant to keep it dry.
