Behind enemy lines
Still too early, but if the Republicans take both the house and Senate, what are the possibilities of the Hearing Protection Act seeing the light of day? It wouldn't be the first thing, but start writing your reps to get it moving before the midterms.

That's hilarious. I needed a good laugh...

Nothing good will happen for gun owners with Trump in the White House. The best thing to hope for is that nothing bad happens. We have to stop democrats from using AR type rifles to commit mass murders as they typically do when they hate the president. We will not get any help from the FBI or ATF in stopping gun crimes, if anything, the FBI will be online goading idiots to commit murder and mayhem.

Not going to happen, the Democrats will use the filibuster in the Senate.
In the past, the Senate has used the "nuclear option" and only needed a simple majority for bills that included funding. With the NFA, specifically suppressors being a tax related issue, is it possible to fall under that umbrella?

This isn't my part of the house but perhaps the tax related portions of the NFA for stamps for suppressors and SBR's might be workable because technically, they are related to revenue. This would be interesting and worth looking into as it would make these things cheaper for folks that already have access but won't help those that live in states that ban these items.

And much as I want to get rid of the NFA and force all the the US to allow suppressors, sbr's and machine guns I don't think that the filibuster should be done away with. This probably makes me a sucker but it is what it is...

This is from the AFT site. From 2022. This is why nothing will happen, it generates a shit load of money. $100m+ a year or more, plus the fact they never restore stolen rights, regardless of which party is in control means ASGH.

Nothing will happen because we never talk to our representatives.

We start a phone and writing campaign after the inauguration, with the momentum we have. I'd bet they'd reintroduce it out of fear of loosing their cushy lifestyle a.d status in a few years. But most gun owners would rather boast about civil war than using the system we were given by the founders

Don Jr. would be our only hope of influence here, but I doubt he’s enough

ETA: I think it’s more likely we see something ruled unconstitutional than a new law be passed
Murdock v Pennsylvania would be handy, but no 2a group has picked that challenge up.
Damn, even when you guys win you can't try to be optimistic.
Kinda reminds be of the abused woman that won't leave because her will is broken.

I am less interested in a new law being passed . . .

then I am in current laws being repealed.

Don't make it "legal now". It was legal once. Make it "not illegal now (again)".

Our side could get stuff like this passed if the NRA didn’t suck & we got off our asses. Like calling your congress rep over and over, protest mobs outside the cap building etc. Otherwise the congress people go native and pass tax cuts and spending bills full of pork.

Cornyn sponsored the SHUSH act in 2024. Rumour has it he is the front runner for Senate Majority leader. I don't trust him though - It's easy to sponsor a bill you know will not pass. Just like Trumps first two years as 45 - all of a sudden the big talk disappeared and the swamp just got deeper.

The deep state will stage Vegas 2.0 if they move the HPA or any massive correction of the laws. It needs to be done. I'm not sure how

Repealing the unconstitutional NFA would be the path. Probably unlikely.

The only time these bills get pushed is when they have no hope of ever being passed. That way you think they’re actually fighting for you. I expect crickets over anything gun related for the next four years unless it’s democrats trying to push gun control.
