I just joined the site. Have been shooting since I was 6 years old and got my first .22lr model 60. I have always shot Iron sights. But now looking to get into long range precision shooting. I'm getting a .308 cal bolt action. Just haven't decided what yet, choices are bewteen a Remington 700 and Savage FCP-10 SR. I'm leaning more towards the Savage due to all of the bad reviews and the recent recall Remington had. Anyways, I hope to learn a lot from the forums.

Welcome to the forum. If you really got the long range bug and you think it’s something your gonna stick with, really think through your fist rig. Why do you wanna go 308? What optics do you have in mind? Make sure your rig can grow with you as your shooting skills develop. Read through the forum and do as much research as you can before asking a question that’s been hashed out a dozen times.

I have decided on .308 due to barrel life, availabilty of ammo and with the right glass it will reach out to 1000yds. As for glass, been looking at Vortex. Decent prices, excellent reviews and customer service.
