Hello from Ohio. Been off and on with this site for a few years now and decided I'm getting to the point where I can understand some of what you guys are talking about ! Figured it was time for me to sign up. I grew up with shotguns and bows here. I had never shot passed a hundred yards until about 10 months ago . A few years when Ohio passed "straight walled " rifles for deer hunting I got into reloading. My curiosity has continued to grow about shooting rifles now and im all in. I have found a somewhat local place that has a 300 yard range. As a family man with kids and a mortgage my buget is limited. All I have is a ruger American 6.5with a vortex gen 5 to 25 and a Harris bipod . I have been reading about buget stocks and I'm sure I'll probably do that in the next few months. However down the road I'll have more to blow on this hobby. Anyway thanks for all the information you all have already given me.

Welcome to the madness. I too am a family man with kids, and the best thing you can do to afford this hobby is to get a second bank account the boss doesn’t know about?. You’re current setup is more than enough to get going, so best of luck in your endeavors.

Well its good to here that my beginning set up isn't terrible. There has been a few shoots at place close to be but I have been hesitant to go. Does anyone on here know anything about southington hunt club in northest ohio?

Yep, great place to shoot! They have open range days, and regular weekly matches with lots of helpful folks. Just shot a 2 day PRS match there at the end of June.
Matt Stiner manages the gun side of things there and can help you out. On-site camping helps too if you want to make a weekend out of it...bring the family!

Like earthquake said above SHC great. Usually every other Thursday night they have a league shoot that consists of about 50 guys, it is very laid-back and a great place to learn.
Any ways Welcome to the Hide from Geauga Co.

How did you place?
That was a very fun positional shooting match. I managed to place 66th in the open division
