Need help on a lower parts kit. Don't want to put a lot of money into it. Bought a stripped lower and need to know the pro's and cons of these lower parts kits and if it is really worth it to spend more money.
RRA kits go from $70 for a single stage RRA to $200 for a two stage (kind of a lot?)

DPMS on sale for $52. Seems a little cheap for quality?

Any thoughts I would appreciate it.

Re: Help deciding on lower parts kit

Get the DPMS kit. It will work just fine. You can always upgrade the trigger later and the small parts are no different from any other kit.

DPMS is alright. Have had more customer issues than any other LPK I sell. Out of spec parts, missing parts, used parts. DPMS is good about making it right. The RRAs with the national match trigger are overrated, IMO. The triggers have a tendency to eat themselves and become lightweight, mushy single stage triggers given time and use. If you want a good single stage LPK, I highly suggest the Daniel Defense ones. They come with a Magpul MOE enhanced trigger guard and are very high quality. I've got a few left in stock

$80? Sounds good to me. Any suggestion on a modest but better grip? Don't want to go crazy but something a little nicer? Got to go to work so I won't be able to answer back until tonight but I want one of the LPK's.

Re: Help deciding on lower parts kit

When I bought my Rock River Entry Tact, it come with the 2 stage trigger, and I love it. Didnt have to adjust it to any of my needs, VERY smooth. When I build my next rifle, it will be getting one.

Magpul MOE grip is what I run on my carbines. It's light, cheap, and has a good texture to provide positive tactile feedback but not dig into your hand. If you want something similar but adjustable, the MIAD is a good grip too. However, if you don't see yourself needing the flexibility, there's no sense in spending the extra $15.

Re: Help deciding on lower parts kit

Yea I was lookingfor a parts kit a couple days ago as well. Best I saw was that DPMS on midway too.

No clue, but if mine does this after 2-3 thousand through it, Ill buy another because I dont shoot that much and if it lasts that long I will be a bought customer.

This is what I did, and so far I've been very happy. I liked not getting a mil-spec trigger so I didn't spend money on something that was just going to sit in the parts box anyway.

Mine started to show issues around 3500 and was a single stage by 5000

Re: Help deciding on lower parts kit

Ok so you sold me on the parts kit, and the MAID because I will be letting my daughter and wife do some shooting with it. That being said I will need a stock. What would work under the same price frame as above and needing something adjustable for me (a larger guy), down to my 12 year old. She is as tall as most 15 year olds. I saw a nice rubber foamy for the back of the stock also. Something that would be a little cushy sounds good for the kids.

Re: Help deciding on lower parts kit

I would recommend an M4 collapsible stock for economy. If precision shooting is in order however, it will hold you back (most of them have significant wobble to them). Rubber buttpads are available.

For something a little less wobbly I would look at a Magpul MOE buttstock, remembering you have to add in the cost of a "stock hardware mounting kit" (BravoCompany term). I do not have any experience with this stock however, I've heard their friction lock does a lot to reduce wobble. Rubber buttpads are also available for Magpul stocks.

Palmetto State Armory has LPK's with Magpul trigger guard and MOE grip for $79. You can select colors. Just assembled mine into my JD lower and it went smooth. The trigger feels pretty good too but admittedly I don't have much experience with AR's. I'm going with FDE furniture and this kit saved me from having to buy the MOE grip separately.

I am going to go with the MidwestPX. Same price but he is a sponser here so I know the money will be going to a "good guy"
