HELP find place 2 shoot n southern Commifornia

I'm gonna be visiting family over the holidays and my old man n I are looking for a place to shoot out to 500-700 yards and not get busted by the nazis.
He lives in the riverside/moreno valley area and we are looking for a place in the high desert or yucca valley area to shoot where it is unlikely that we'll encounter flack from law enforcement. I grew up in Cali, so i know the high desert fairly well. If anyone knows of a place in those areas and can provide gps coordinates or directions it would be greatly appreciated.
If you know of a special spot that you want to keep a secret but are willing to let a visitor experience you can pm me the details.

I don't think you will have much luck finding a long range shooting area that you will be safe to shoot at until you get fairly far north of Barstow. Call the BLM office in Barstow and ask them where it is legal to shoot and I think this is where they will tell you to go. AFAIK there are no designated areas you have to figure it out for yourself out there. But for that long a drive you could also go shoot at a regular shooting range though not much past 500 yards.

I want to shoot my own steel, but if they have steel out there 29 palms is an option.

Is 29 palms a members only place or can i pay a guest fee? I don't visit California near enough to pay two $50 memberships to visit a range 100 miles from where my family lives.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but a place to shoot nonetheless. Probably 45 min to 1 hour from your location. Very nice facility, steel targets everywhere out to 890 yd, membership not necessary for the first couple visits. You'll want to check the schedule for "recreational" shooting from the <span style="font-style: italic">long range line</span> beforehand, if you decide to go this route:
