Looking to buy a new scope for my long range rifle. I'm down to 2. Leupy mk5 5-25 with non illuminated tmr, or vortex 4.5-27 with ebr 7c. I like a simpler reticle, and am a fan of the tmr. I'm also a big fan of vortex products. Price is within $100 and not a concern. Any input?

Informal long range target practice and banging steel out to 1200. I don't compete but take an occasional class. Also shoot a deer with it on occasion out of a stand. Both are available local to me for approx $1600
If you hunt with it go with the leupold. Both are great glass but the vortex is an absolute tank at 50oz. You can save almost a full pound by going with Leupold.
I don’t have possession of it yet so that it for what that’s worth, but did go with the Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25 TMR for the clean glass. I wanted to dial in instead of doing hold overs, the light weight, and also had a good deal on military pricing. There are a lot of good threads in here about the Mark 5HD. The general consensus is, you will not be disappointed with either one, just find a reticle you like and enjoy it.
I was dead set on the razor, but all the positive comments here on the mk5 are what made me reconsider.
the MK5 is definitely worth a look. If i were you, that's what I'd go with because the Razor is an absolute monster in the weight department, I certainly wouldn't want to pack it very far if I didn't have to.
If you can swing it, look through both at a match or something.
The Mark5 is a much lighter optic. I mention this because you talk of hunting with the optic. If weight isn't an issue then it should really boil down to which features are most desirable to you (locking turrets, reticle choice, illumination, etc).
well for $1,999.00 to $2,499.00 you have a huge selection of scopes you could choose from I guessing since the vortex you listed is ffp you would want one of those as well .

just to point out if you could live with the sfp the 5x50x56 is an ineradicable scope and the free floating dot is super fine and the view very non cluttered .

Never ran the Leupy, but the G2 Razor I had was amazing. If your stand hunting the weight isn’t a concern.
You could try out the Crimson Trace CTL5324-02 from Midway USA. They are on a good sale right now, and if you buy something extra to push your Crimson Trace purchase amount over $1000, you can get $200 back. So the scope would end up being $750, plus another $50 extra that you buy. It's a solid deal for a really nice scope.
