My Dad just stopped by and dropped off a couple rifles from my late grandfathers collection. I’m having troubles identifying this rifle, I’d appreciate your input!

I think you nailed it. I just did some googling of your post and sure as shit pictures match what I’ve got.Dutch beaumont vitali? Model 1871
That would be awesome, I’m going to look into it. My Grandpa would undoubtedly be smiling down!Buffalo Arms used to have 11x52R 1878 cartridge in boxes of 20, the shipped price per cartridge is around $6 each...$82 a box of 20 plus shipping. The Dutch used the 11.3x50R in the single shot 1871and the “new” 11x52R in the 1871/88 Beaumont-Vitali magazine rifle.
Good read, however way over my head. Here's a thread on making 43 Dutch (11x52R) cases. Thought it might be helpful...

watch C&Rsenal on youtube, Othias does a history on WW1 firearms that are documented to have been used. He did one on this rifle. Goes into the evolution and how and who was involved. They also fire the arms discussed.
Very cool rifle! I was at a loss when I saw it... never even heard of that. So many interesting early bolt guns, straight-pulls, calibers, etc.
Thanks for posting... and thanks for the history lesson!
Cheers,
Sirhr
P.S. Hang on, I'll post an article a friend of mine just did!
Double check that it isn’t not a vetterli rifle. Swiss made.
