Finally received my TBAC .22 Takedown and would like a pistol to match. Currently have a Mark III but it's not threaded.

Most important is semi-auto and reliability.

Mark IV look nice. Maybe in the .22/45 version.

I love 1911s and there seems to be quite a selection in .22lr but which one?

    The other Ruger?

Throw out some ideas and don't be stash with the pictars.

Browning Buckmark stock trigger vastly superior to Ruger 22/45 stock trigger, have both threaded for quiet fun, prefer the buckmark as it is easier to shoot and field strip/ clean. Buckmark was easy to install tacsol threaded barrel, Can also swap barrels quickly, no way to do that with the Ruger as the upper receiver is serialized. Both are a nightmare to re-assemble when taken fully apart. Both have had issues with certain factory mags, they just do not like some of them.

Avoid sig mosquito, aluminum frame cracks at rear rail tabs.

I have a 22/45 Lite that's had 10s of thousands of rounds through it...they get dirty, but if you just drop a bit of oil in it and on the bolt every hundred rounds or so it will go a few thou before the buildup gets to the point that you have to fully strip and clean it. It's very well worn now and all the wear surfaces have mated nicely making it feel like a well built gun. Also have a S&W MP22 and it sucks, has difficulty running when its dirty and must be very clean to run reliably...played around with the Sig 1911 that my cousin has and it runs pretty good, they seem to like it a lot but I've only run a few hundred rounds through it.

I should have clarified, I meant the pistol M&P that I'm not very impressed with. I also have the AR and it's awesome...it has a Geissele SD3G trigger and a RMR on it and I was smart enough to get 5 mags when I bought it so it burns through a ton of ammo whenever it comes out to play. I couldn't begin to tell how many thousands of rounds have gone through it over the years with next to no maintenance, just some oil here and there...I may have boresnaked it twice since it was new. If we are throwing out rifles, my CZ455 precision trainer is a blast with a can on it, it is stupid fun to terrorize the critters around the house!

Good info. I like how well the S&W fits in my hand, but have never fired one. Sounds like it has problems. I will probably go with a Ruger MKIV.

Another vote for the Ruger 22/45 Lite. A great combination with a suppressor. Only modification to the 22/45 was a Volquartsen trigger, sear, and hammer bushing for a much better trigger pull.

There are several that say it is difficult to take apart. I agree that it isn’t as easy as my Glock, but I don’t think it is anything you can’t handle. I was proficient at it when I was 16.

I’ve ran at least one since. That’s 22 years of shooting one at least weekly.

The 22/45 variants all have polymer frames. If you shoot a lot, and I mean a brick a week, you’ll wear out that polymer frame. I did.

I wanted a 1911 feel. I tried both a GSG and a Sig. I had nothing but troubles with them. Never could feed a whole magazine without jamming.

I’m working on a really nice custom suppressor host now on the Ruger MK platform. It’s going to use the Volquartsen 1911 target grip frame. I’m optimistic it will be nicer than the polymer Ruger.

Several shooting buddies run the Buckmark and are really happy with them. That said, to the best of my knowledge, the only military ordered integrally suppressed 22 pistols in the last 40 years were built on Rugers.

I have the gsg with some parts added and it runs ok. Sometimes it doesn't like to fully chamber the first round of a mag. What drives me crazy is how high it shoots. Like it may be dead on at 100 or 150 kind of high. Pretty sure that was with the highest front sight too. Anyone elses like that? It is fun and sounds like a staple gun.

my Sig/gsg shoots high also was thinking about getting adjustable sights. Does you POI come down with a can on?

I got a PPK/S to use with mine and it's a lot of fun and was pretty cheap. Turns you into James Bond! It's a lot of fun and quiet. My dealer had a Beretta Bobcat with that 3" Sico can and it was badass and compact; I originally wanted a Bobcat but couldn't find one and a threaded barrel to go with it. Discontinued but still cool would be a S&W 2214. For a larger .22, a 1911 type would probably be nice if you weren't gonna use a Mk2.

But if you could do it, the absolute best IMO would be a S&W Model 41.

Mine does some on that PPK/S but the biggest issue with sights is that they're hard to see, period. Unless they're tall enough to clear the suppressor. With the Glocks you have the suppressor sights and that may be a solution for others too.

I honestly can't remember where it shoots without the suppressor. It I remember its still high. Come to think of it, the thing is about dead on at 100. I was shooting at the 100 target my buddy was using to sight in so he could just hear it run and put some holes in it. Really surprised it put some on paper without trying too hard.

I am wanting to get a threaded barrel for my 1911 conversion. The pistol is from one of my best friend’s estate, he passed 5 years ago.
He always wanted a suppressed .22 and I have had a thing for a suppressed 1911 on a .22 conversion since reading Without Remorse in high school.
Would be a great way to remember him and realize my own dream..... ?
Kids, divorce, and remarrying (along with cheap houses in denver) has slowed things down.

My buddy runs the 22/45 with a Gemtech. No issues. I will go TBAC like you, top notch equipment and class acts.
