I have 2900cu 3 day ruck, but wanted something to take out with me when I'm hunting all day or out shooting in the mountains. Big enough to hump everything I need, but not as big as my 3 day bag. I started looking around and was overwhelmed with what was available, but alot were much larger than what I think would be the max size I'd need of 2000cu (and I think that may even be a bit large), but also had a few parameters:

    - Must have the straps on the bottom of the ruck for a sleeping bag/shooting mat

    - USA made

    - Would prefer it come in Multicam, but not a dealbreaker

    - Compartment for a 3L bladder as well as a hole for the hose

    - Would prefer it have a smaller compartment ontop of the larger compartment

    Suggestions?

    Contact Ceylon @ Deltaoutdoorsman.com

He will get you what you need and in the color you want.

Those actually made in USA will cut your choices down considerably.

Give Ceylon a call. He's a wealth of information where packs and other gear are concerned.

I've got both Eberlestock (x1) and Badlands (Whitetail extreme?) and have been quite happy with both.
I use the badlands as my archery day pack and the Eberlestock when toting a rifle but both will interchange in role without much trouble. Both have been hunted with 20-40 days a year for the past 4-6 years and I've got zero issues.
I have the opposite issue, I need to come up with a new 3-5day pack and can't make up my mind.

I have a Kifaru Navigator. It's everything you've listed. Before you go thinking that it's too big, the top part is exactly the same as a Maruader and it is more than possible to cinch up the bottom straps, and coupled with, what is basically an internal cordura shelf inside, it's an expandable daypack.

I have to say that from my experience that a sleeping bag attached to the bottom never worked for me. It always hit the back of my legs and in the end, it either went in the pack(there's room in it for one at the bottom), or on the top.

    Have a good one soldat.

    Here is the pack I use for single day to overnight;

    http://www.tacticaltailor.com/packs_bags/packs/removable-operator-pack

In addition, I added TT pouches on each side and a pouch on the front.

Plenty of room for overnight + a couple nights with right kit, overnight or 5 nights is the same kit the only difference is more food and more fuel weight, not volume.

PALS on the bottom can be added for a bag or matt. I prefer to carry my foam pad folded up in the hydro slot or lashed to the side.

What I like too, this pack buckles onto Red Gear / Redman Tac Apollo that carries shortgun, ammo + mags, multitool, etc, whatever is needed for range or hunt or hike.

Thanks for the suggestions, I've been busy looking at packs.

While I like the Eberlstock, I usually carry my rifle slung off my shoulder or across my shoulders if I need it to stay put. Most of the Eberlstocks are built around putting the rifle in the ruck and from carry drag bags in the past I've never liked/felt comfortable about doing this for whatever reason.

Bought on Clearance at Wal-Mart yesterday for $25; Fieldline Pro Series Glenwood Canyon Pack.

Cheap, nicely configured. I had been watching it, and when the post hunting season clearance went into effect, I bought it.

This is not High-Roller item but it serves well enough for the occasional packer, and is nicely though out. It has provision for an optional 2 Liter Bladder Hydration pouch, and a workable stab at a provision for carrying a rifle and scope, (or alternatively, a bow).
