Ive been looking at these types of optic set ups

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=TA11J-RMR

or

http://www.leupold.com/tactical/products/scopes/mark-4-hamr/mark-4-4x24mm-hamr/

Ill be using for a Sig 522 and in the future once i get the coffers a bit heavier a FN Scar chambered in .308

Because of the future use in mind Ive though about getting this

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3b.php?pid=TA648-308H

The price is just such a kick in the nutts especially once you add a reflex sight on top of that

I want to use these types of scopes because of the ability to put a second close range reflex / red dot sight on top so that is a requirement

Does anyone have any input? A different brand I should look into?

Please give me some advice and if you think Im being ridicules dont be afraid to let me know and what path you believe I should be taking instead

THANKS

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

Burris, I think they do, has scope rings with picatini on top. Or there is the offset picatini mounts for your red dot sight or whatever. You don't have to be limited to your HAMR's or your ACOG's or what have you is the point. This is my plan (at the moment anyway). The more I read and explore my plan seems to change every few days, LOL!!!!

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

The more you can actually try them out before purchase, the better decision you will make.

If you are going to keep it, spending the cash for quality always pays off. Cheap scopes are worthless if you try to resell, quality scopes lose a small percentage of their value. You can essentially rent them for long periods for little cost, dont sweat it. Money well spent on quality optics. See Doug at Cameraland or Scott at LibertyOptics. You will be well taken care of.

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

Just a word of wisdom, you might want to check the velocities that the a-cog's are based on. I have the 6x on my LMT .308 and found out later that it was designed around a velocity of something crazy like 2800fps. Can't get a factory load to go that fast so the bdc doesn't match well.

I decided to go with a variable powered scope that wound up working better. I think something with a low end around the 1-2.5 range would fit your usage pretty well. With the low end being in that range, it is still easy to engage targets in a cqb engagement. There are tons of good options out there in a variable powered optic that have very wide magnification range that also fit inside of the same price point as the a-cog.

Pm myself or Jay (or even call the shop if you want). We'll be glad to help out if we can.

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

This would be my choice:

Rugged, and with a flip of a lever you have day time bright sight.

very nice indeed - but having to flip a switch to have a nice 1x sight is just to slow for what im looking for - besides that seems top notch

Your welcome bud!!! Now all you and I have to do is get to that perfect option. I'm sure I will change my mind 10 more times from now hahaha!!! I know I want a 1x to 1.5x scope & don't want to spend an ishload. The first one i fell in love with was the IOR 2-12x36 Spartan. But I realized I didn't need all that power at 12x and it's still $1279 at SWFA. So now I'm stuck on Leupold VX6 1-6x24. But it's still $899 for the illuminated one but it looks awesome on paper. Now I'm wavering again, after reading a lot here seems like Leupold gets dumped on a little and it fks with my head. So I just don't know, I'm a newb trying to build a bad ass rifle... But it's a great learning experience and I have learned much but so little.

Haha I know exactly what your talking about!

Last night after reading around on here I came up with the idea of going with a Vortex scope - lifetime warranty and very nice prices http://www.eurooptic.com/vortex-viper-pst-25-10x44-rifle-scope-ebr-1-reticle-moa-pst-210s1-a.aspx
there is one you can get from alex that is only 600!!! its so cheap its hard to believe its not just another crap scope! haha

but yeah check into them I know i was pleased with the price for what you get

good luck on your search

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

That looks like a nice one, Intrepid. Still too much scope for me. Yeah it's funny I started looking at the Vortex PST too. I like reticules & features. Going to look closer at those. We should find dealer to get hands on look at all these options.

Re: Help me spend my money / decide

yeah it would be nice to find a dealer that had this stuff to look at in person but around where i live thats not going to happen haha

anyway this is where im at right now

http://www.burristactical.com/arpepr.html

not the QD model - dont see why i would need that so might as well save the extra money

http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vort...reticle/reticle

mil adjustments / mrad reticle

http://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product3.php?pid=RM01-34

with that tall pic mount should be able to see over the uncapped elevation knob w/o a problem

any thoughts?
