Looking to put together a beater rifle that'll pull duty as my loaner and something I can just bring with me while out 4wheeling.

•Budget $2-2.5k
•6.5 Creedmoor
•20" max barrel length

The lighter the better, I already have a 4-16 NF ATACR to put on it. I'm out of the loop on current factory offerings but have considered one of them new Tikka CTR rifles.

Just looking for some ideas I may have overlooked?

Steve.

My old original Tikka CTR that I bought new for $792 back in 2011 is the only rifle I sold that I miss. That owned and sold list includes 2 Tac Ops and a dozen GAPs. Don't miss any of those. I remember my buddies teasing my going-cheap rifle ... but I was making 650-850 shots like cake that day and others were not

You want something light and handy that you don't really care about?
Get a Ruger American. Probably can pick one up for $500 or so. The Predator model specs out pretty good.
No it probably won't shoot bug holes but should be MOA or less in 6.5 CM.
Your buddies won't care, I've shouldered a couple and they feel pretty good.

Get the Tikka, buddy! Those rifles are super accurate and very light with the stock stock. Put a $2 trigger spring in it and you'll love it!

You answered your own question. When I read your wishlist, you described it perfectly. Mine is also in 6.5 CM. I bought it to play with while I was waiting for a custom build in 6.5. This little booger shoots tiny little groups with factory 140 ELD-Ms, and the short barrel will still provide enough MV to reach out to 1200 with consistency. It comes with a 0-MOA rail installed and a threaded barrel. All you have to do is throw a set of rings and a scope on it, and a brake if you want, and a Harris, and you're all set. The adjustable-height Triad stock pack was a great addition for getting a good, natural position with proper cheek weld and scope/eye alignment. Even alongside my two full-throttle custom builds this little gun just impresses me.

When I bought mine they were scarce. I paid 998.00 at EuroOptic. You might can find it less now, but you will NOT get better service than from those guys. They might even price match if you ask.

Have fun with it!

Edit: Hamstur (above) is talking about the earlier (discontinued, I believe) Tikka T3 for 792.00. Mine is the new T3X. Even so, you already have a scope, so even if you paid 1000 for the rifle, 400 for a Spuhr mount (most expensive case, but worth it if you feel the need to add 20 MOA to the rail), 220 for a brake (mine is a Heathen), 110 for a Harris, and 50 for a stock pack, you're still below the low end of your budget allowance. Can't beat that. Most experienced shooters are getting 0.5 MOA or even better out of these.
