New to the tube gun world so need to query the collective talent of SH. I'm leaning towards a NF NXS 12-42x for my Eliseo RTS. I have a few questions:

1. The scope has 45 moa of elevation and will sit on a built in 20 moa rail. Will I have enough elevation to zero at 100 yard and also reach to 1000 yards? This is a 260 rem, 24" barrel.

2. Which rings would you use for the 12-42x-56 on the Eliseo rail? Which height and brand? I don't have the rifle yet so I can't measure for height. I just wanted to check to see if anyone mounted this or a similar scope on the Eliseo.

Thanks for all the help.

I have a 12-42x56 on a 20MOA NF rail and am able to get a zero at 100 yards, just barely. I am maybe 1 or 2 MOA from the bottom at that range.

A dope chart will tell you how much you'll need to get to 1000. Depends on your load, I suppose.

Which rings did you use?

Also, which reticle are people using with this NF? This will be field and for casual target practice with maybe some future f-class.

I have a Panda with the built in 20 moa rail. Had to use the Burris rings with the +/-20 inserts to get enough travel with my 12-42 NXS. I'm able to get a 200yd zero with 2.5 moa under zero and enough elevation for 1200 at Lodi with a .308. My teammate has the Panda with the tapered Davidson rail and the Kelbly tapered rings to get enough travel. I think his bottoms out at 300yds, though. AG

If you want the NXS 12-42, you should order soon. I am sure you know it is being discontinued and availability is getting scarce. I am jealous I want one for a 300 WM I am working on but I refuse to finance anything for a hobby, and don't have the spare cash.

You should be able to get a 100yd zero A friend has an 8-32 NXS on his Eliseo, and was able to get it to zero at 100. As far as rings as long as they are a quality product I would say it is your preference. I like Burris rings on lower caliber rifles, they are very nice IMO. If you want steel rings I would go with NF, or Badger, I don't think these are necessary on a .260.

I have a 12x42x56 NXS on my Eliseo, I'm using Nightforce High Rings. You can use the medium rings but the scope will be to close to the rifle and it will be tough to get a good cheek weld. You will have more than enough elevation to get to 1k with a 260. And you shouldn't have any problems gettting a 100 yard zero.

Nxs 12-42 not ideal period, limited travel

Have gary machine more cant into rail, had mine done at 45moa
I run a Razor hd 5-20 in HD (seekins) 1.00 rings, cheek weld is a non issue using ear plugs, PITA with EPs.

Configuring the Eliseo Tubegun Stock within AccurateShooter.com
link explains correct way to set up stock, LOP i use the standard elbow to trigger finger vs his method as it pertains to utilizing a heavy shooting jacket ala high power
other than that it saves a bunch of time guessing on whats best

hkfan45, I might opt for the new 15-55x52 competition scope instead of the now discontinued 12-42, a lot better glass, lighter and more elevation travel. This may cure some problems before they even start, I had Cameron Murphy make me a 28moa base, so I could have 100 yard zero and ample room to reach a 1000 for my f-classer.
