I currently have a 700 in 300 WM ADL with a tupperware stock that has had the bolt trued and a trigger job. The gun shoots great, about MOA with factory loads, I have never shot handloads in it. I am planning an elk hunt next year and was wondering if my best bet was to just stay with this gun and put a new stock on it or to get something with a slightly heavier barrel. I am trying to keep weight down. This rifle is just for hunting only and has maybe 100 rounds thru it total. I have killed the hell outa deer with it though. What are some thoughts. I am for sure going to start handloading for it.

Maybe change out your stock or bed the one you have. Changing barrel will be heavier and probably not needed for what you're doing. I wouldn't sink too much into it if you're just hunting with it and it shoots good with factory ammo.

Well, that is kinda what I was thinking. I am thinking of changing the cheap stock though. Either to a McMillan hunting stock or the B&C Alaskan stock. I was just thinking that change in climate, temp would change POI with that cheap plastic stock. Hell, maybe I should leave it alone and save my money for another NF scope!

Yep I would say leave it alone aside for the stock, it's shooting good and has already proven itself in the field.

I'd go to something light and simple with an AL bedding block and then skim bed it. BC and HS are good options, I've heard a lot of good things on the BC Alaskan. Mcmillan is a great option of course but by the time you get done you'll stick way over $500 into one after it's pillar bedded.
