hey gang,
I have an issue that has come up with a new gun I just built and I need some help.
I recently purchased a 6.5x47 Lapua barreled action from here on the hide. After procuring the pieces necessary to build the gun, I received my brand new forster dies in the mail today to work some lapua brass with.
I FL sized, cleaned, then loaded up a 123 amax with no primer or powder just to get a measurement of the lands before load development. I started at 2.740 and worked by way all the way down to 2.615 before the case got stuck. Each time I shortened the OAL, the bolt would move into the action, but it wouldn't allow me to shut the bolt. Finally at the 2.615 OAL mark, I shut the bolt.
Upon trying to open the bolt, it was stuck. The bolt lifted up pretty easily, but it was not allowing me to pull it back to eject the round. I pulled as hard as I could and finally it moved back, but the round is now stuck in the chamber. After removing the bolt and looking down the back of the action, I could see that a small portion of the rim at the 1 o clock position looked deformed.
Anyone know why this may be the case? Before putting in the non-primed, non powder charged round in, I tried putting a full length resized case in WITHOUT a bullet, and even that wouldn't let me shut the bolt. I'm starting to think something was wrong with the barreled action to begin with.
