Rifle Scopes Help with 1st PRS Scope

Very true! And a wise man always tries to negotiate the best price offer too. Would you go with ZCO or Tangent? I would try a ZCO but damnit I just don't want to drop another $400 on a 36mm Spuhr. I feel like I have spent way too much money on mounts. I'm tying to stop.

Zco all day for me. I just traded a tangent straight up for a zco. Could have probably gotten some cash, but wasn’t worth hassle.

No need for spuhr unless you’re going to use the attachment points.

I have swapped most of my spuhr mounts to ARC rings. $140-$180 for ARC. Easier to mount than spuhr and just as reliable.

If you cant spend 10% of scope cost on a mount...well you're in the wrong sport buddy

You have several alternatives to spuhr. Mpa makes a one piece for $240 which is functionally just as nice if you don’t have a need for mounting crap to your scope. Arc also makes rings. Don’t get me wrong spuhr is nice, but what do you really get for double the price.

Answered some of your thoughts above. I am not new to the sport and have been shooting it for 17 years and have used a lot of optics in it as have others answering above.
I have three Gen 2 Razors myself. They are my favorite scope in this class, but I despise the way they zero with a passion. I will agree with the man you were responding to on that point. A “perfect zero” means very little if nothing in practice. Nobody is holding the .05 mil difference between the perfect zero and the less than perfect zero.

Whoever came up with that design probably has OCD and has to touch his doorknob three times before he goes outside.

It means something if you are shooting very small targets. Shooting 2-3 moa targets then no it won't.

Reticle choices aren’t evolving correctly (they don’t even offer a standard Christmas tree or a non Christmas tree with .2 in the vertical at least)

Their prices have slowly been jacked back up into the mid to upper $3k

Old physical design. While it’s trivial and shouldn’t matter, the illumination tumor turns a lot of people off.

As a personal example:

The closest thing to a reticle I like they produce is an h2cmr.

So I can buy a DT h2cmr for $3300 or a locking turret for $3400

Or

I can get a zco for $3600 that has tons more features and better glass, with a better reticle.

A tangent for around $4200

Kahles for $2800 with better reticle

Basically at this current time, Schmidt is evolving extremely slow while charging the same prices as more modern optics because it’s a schmidt. And that ain’t gonna last but so long.

Illumination tumor, LOL. It sure does look like that. Have any people had issues with the ZCO locking turret coming down while trying to adjust fast? Seems like it may be possible. Honestly I wish they would leave the turrets non-locking like the Tangent, but that's just me. To each their own I suppose.

Haven’t heard of anyone having issues.

Even if they did.......the solution is to just lift the turret back up.

Or do you shoot well enough the less than a second matters?

I got lucky and found a leupold Mark5 for 1800 with the H59 of course that my best recommendation. I also own a steiner t5xi thats really nice and i really like their SCR reticle you can probably find that for 1500, look at the EOtech vudu line I lot of people over look them because they dont have the recognition in the game but I own a 3.5-18 model that I really like.

I reckon the Meopta Optika6 5-30x56 FFP may save you some money and also provide a great performance for your first scope. European glass and quality, great review for that price.

Once you have more experience for a while then you can plan your high end scope later.

I really can’t believe all the knowledge I’ve gained through this forum. I’ve had a chance to look through a bunch of the options mentioned in this thread. Gosh it’s hard to really tell the difference. What are the thoughts on a PST Gen2?? How do they historically track? And is a non locking windage turret a deal breaker?

Only thing negative I have heard about the Optika 6 is that the rubber on the controls eventually comes loose. AGAIN I heard this and have not experienced it. I have handled the 3-18x56 and it was very nice. I ended up going with the MPO over the Optika because I thought it would be a little more robust (and it is a tank in my opinion)

I would personally pass on the non razor lines of vortex. I dont think their failure rates are sky high, but are not what I want to use and not question my gear.
