I installed a Rifle Basix trigger in my Rem 700 5-R awhile ago, and it improved the trigger immensely, but..... The bolt release has to be manually pulled down in order to prevent the bolt from coming completely out of the rifle. Please don't ask me how I found that out! What is the problem/fix? Thanks-

Sounds like the slide that releases the bolt has some dirt, or gummed up.
Remove the barreled action and look On the left side of the trigger at the slide that moves up & down.
Clean and reinstall and you should be GTG.
If that doesn't do it, while you have it down, check the spring and lever to be sure it's clean and installed correctly.

its possible that it is the trigger recess in the stock that is causing it to bind and needs to be relieved a little bit.

this is probably the most likely culprit. my stock x-mark did the same thing when i switched to a mcm stock. it did it with a hs precision stock as well

also possible that the trigger is adjusted too low on poundage or creep, and not allowing the bolt to stop where it should, but straight out as if the trigger was depressed.

I had the same problem with a Timney trigger, the bolt release would hang up even when I took the barreled action out of the stock. I ended up removing it, and now I use a knife or pen to push down on the bolt release from the top- it's a pain in the ass.

I feel like an Idiot..... After taking the trigger out of the stock, I realized it is a Timney. It hung up even when it was out of the stock. I took out the bolt stop itself, and honed it on 320 and 600 grit wet paper on glass and put it back in. I also tweaked the return spring so it put more pressure on the bolt stop. Still hung up. I found that the small screw containing the bolt release button was a little too tight and backed it off. The button moves a little sloppier, but now the bolt stop pops back like it should. Don't you love when you disassemble something, hone, polish, shape, etc., when you don't have to, and the solution was as simple as a turn of a screw? LOL

Good deal!! I had some struggle adjusting bolt release too when I got mine. It takes just a little bit more tension to make it right, and works fine every since.
