I have a Savage long action, flat back reciever.

It has an EGW 20MOA one piece base, Burris Z rings, and I just swapped a Weaver Grand Slam scope for a Leupold VXIII. I can not seem to get the elevation set. At 100 yards, I have run out of elevation adjustment and I am still about 6" low.

It worked fine with the Weaver.

I am sure I am missing something simple.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Re: Help with a Savage SEtup

Are you identifying this issue by shooting or by sighting?

My guess is that you have non-concentric inserts and did not leave the inserts installd the way they were.

Read the instructions for the inserts and try re-mounting the scope.

Identified by shooting. At 100yds I was low and ran out of "UP" adjustment.

The rings are concentric. I'll try it again, being very careful to center everything.

Does it make a difference that the Weaver was a 50mm scope and that the Leupold is a 40mm scope? Would lower rings help?

I used the "zero" inserts that were included in the package.
