I would like some suggestions for a small to medium size back pack that can secure a approx 25 inch Manfroto to it securely. Need to be able to climb ladders and go through windows etc.... with out it getting hung up or becoming loose.

Thanks

i have an eberelstock phantom that also holds a tripod on the side nicely. Might be a little big for you Though

Have the half track that is the same size as yours but it is a bit too big. Right now I use the high speed with it strapped to the side compression straps but it is a pain to take on and off and can gets hung up on things. Thanks for the photos !

I carry a PVA tripod with RRS BH55 in the rifle scabbard of a x3 lo drag with the bottom of the rifle pouch clipped up. Sticks out the top a tad but I can buckle it and it doesn't stick out too high I don't feel.

Eberlestock just had a sale on the X31 LoDrag for $150.00. Do you like yours? I have the J107M Dragonfly and it is a bit large for a day pack, at least until you need it to haul meat out.

It's the only real pack I've ever had so I can't compare it to much but I feel it's been a great addition and works well for my needs. Ceratiy hauls more than I actualy "need" it to.

I have a Tactical Tailor pack, not sure what model it is. They make two different size assault packs, a small one and a medium one. No, I think they make a large one too; they have a lot of options actually but there's really only gonna be two you wanna consider I guess.. I have 'em both but the medium one holds more and also has straps on the sides in addition to molle loops. Both can be made to clip onto a larger ruck, an assault vest or body armor, without the use of the straps.

So what I've been doing is just using those side straps and pulling 'em tight to hold the tripod to the side of the pack. I have a Sirui that's pretty compact too, your length more or less depending on setup. If you wanted, you could get a carrier or bag to fit on the molle and do it that way too.

Tactical Tailor also custom makes and modifies things, their store is right by their shop more or less. They make good shit too, very popular with soldiers from Ft. Lewis, rangers and SF guys too, especially since you can get stuff customized. You could probably get a zippered pocket stitched on one side for the tripod with the molle shit on the outside of that. Or whatever.

The backpack itself also has a place for a 3L Source bladder and outlet for the tube (and holds the bladder and it's weight up high so it's not sagging to the bottom) adj., padded straps, 3 compartments, a large orange panel in the large one, etc. Water resistant nylon. Great 3 day pack if tend to carry a lot, could go twice that long if you don't. Very well made. Probably $150? $175? Just guessing. I know it's a bit more than the small one and it was about $100 or $125.

Another option is a "radio ruck". It's a heavily modified ruck (if you get TT to upgrade it) made to your specs. It attaches to the aluminum ALICE frame. But you could have molle loops put on the ruck, Velcro, whatever. They do a LOT of these, especially for sniper teams (sometimes to actually carry a radio). They have more room than a 3 day or assault pack, but are quite a bit smaller than a full size large ALICE ruck. Inexpensive, and the frame with a smaller ruck and lower weight is actually comfortable on the back. I have two of these actually, neither upgraded, but still useful. So lots of options just from TT.

Worth a look/phone call. I love mine and have never needed another.

Great Idea Strykervet! I will check them out! Will also look into attaching a sleeve to the side for the pod. I ordered a Cannae Legion pack on sale for $75. Gonna try it out. The problem I had with strapping the pod to the side is that it tends to wobble a bit and honestly one time I was headed up a make shift ladder and the top got caught on an overhang that was next to me and almost threw me off.

Another vote for Eberlestock. I’ve attached all sorts of things to it for hunting including folding chairs, bow, shooting sticks, etc. lots of attachments for them other than the scabbard. The gunrunner is good due to the way the straps are set up in a cross configuration.

I strap my tripod (PRST with Sirui ballhead) to the side of my Mystery Ranch 3 Day assault Pack. I slide 2 of the legs under the compression strap and then put the 3 feet into the side pocket. Crank down the compression strap and it's always stayed in place, granted I don't think I've ever climbed a ladder with it or gone through a window, haha. A few companies make tripod specific scabbards that attach to molle (I can think of Sunrise Tactical off the top of my head), that might be your best bet if you don't need really rapid access.

Can’t beat Eberlstock. I have the G4 Operator. It’s a large pack, but they have plenty of small - medium packs that would suit your needs. They’re bullet proof.
