Ok I have yet to find a Chest Rig I like and my standards are fairly simple. First i need one that will fit me I'm 5'10 160 40" chest 30" waist.
Here is what I'm looking for,
Not too low, still need to be able to use items on duty belt.
4 AR 15 Mags in front w/ string retention no flaps.
Some Molle on chest.

thats all can you guys give me some suggestions that wont break the bank?

thanks

Re: Help with Chest Rig

Yes on the SKD brand.
I'd also look on Triads web site,a GREAT sponsor here.

Also look at HSGI or Tactical Tailor

Try this.

Eagle Plate Carrier in Medium. You're around the same size as a friend of mine. If you are not putting armor in it try putting something lightweight and rigid in leiu of the armor to get some support and keep it from flopping around on you if you run around in it.

It has the capability of carrying multiple AR/AK mags and a pistol plus two full-sized pistol mags and a few small items. It also has some MOLLE attachments on the sides. It's light-weight and even when fully loaded, is not so heavy as to be instrusive. It was designed to be a practical piece of gear for short-term missions. For that, I find it to be ideal. You can easily adjust it to sit high on the chest so that your can still reach your duty belt and holster (as I do). You don't have to use that pouch for a pistol and can easily put more magazine in there. There are no magazine flaps but there is also no bungee string retention. Some guys add that to this rig later. They can be altered and/or customized even further. You can see some detailed information about that HERE YMMV.

Re: Help with Chest Rig

Check out BDS Tactical (bdstactical.com) chest rigs. I own the "Simple Stacker" and I like it a lot. It sounds like it is just what you are looking for.

(good idea Dk to keep the ops requirements handy)

03 design group

scroll to the bottom and the designer has pictures wearing the rig in different LE uniforms, good visual to see if this meets your requirement. I am not LE, but appreciate its design.

Re: Help with Chest Rig

Another vote for the MAV 2-pc. Modularity will give you the ability to tailor it to exactly suit your needs- much better than a standard rig you can't change. And most rigs will hold more than 4 mags- space wasted if not truly needed which could be put to better use.

+ 1 on the DBT gear, Check out Grey Group training as well they have ATS and Mayflower as well which are also good.

Re: Help with Chest Rig

+1 for Mayflower.

I'd also trust Eagle Industries. Great material, and even better sewing. They also have a strong warranty.

Re: Help with Chest Rig

I love my ATS M4 rig, excellent quality and comes in coyote brown if that's what you are looking for. Seems very few chestrig manufacturers have coyote brown for some reason. Height is adjustable front and back. Shoulder straps are flat and 2" wide, has never felt uncomfortable even with heavy loads. The panels on each side has 4 vertical by 3 horizontal PALS rows, the mag panel on the front has 3 vertically by 8. So the rig is 14 rows wide, enough room for everything you could need. The body has a large compartment with velcro opening, handy for maps and such. Lifetime warranty. Linky
