So I just read about the ladder test here and thought I would give it a try with my ar-15 (Krieger barrel, 7.7 twist) and Savage 110ba. I used 77gr and 69gr SMK's and 300gr SMK for the 338 and they were all shot at 400 yards. Loads are written on the targets. I have a few questions about what I shot:
1)There was absolutely no wind today. Should I really be seeing this much horizontal deviation between shots? I understand that it has no bearing in the ladder test, it's just worrisome I guess (first time shooting out to 400 yards).
2)I don't really see any clear "group" in the 338 string. Should I try again?
3) In the 69gr test shots 1&2 are very close, both vertically and horizontally, and 4&5 are close vertically, but not horizontally. Should I bother expanding on 4&5 (trying 5 shot groups) or just 1&2?
I hope these aren't too stupid/annoying questions that are asked all the time, but I appreciate the help!
